Due to the rising covid cases, the State Government has declared all offices closed till 7th May. There might be cases of domestic violence, child abuse and any other crimes committed on women and children. On the occasion of National Girl Child Day DLCW, West (MSK)Geyzing in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra, Jan Sewa Samaj of New Geyzing and with the support from Police, Health worker and SSB team successfully conducted Marathon Run (covering distance of 5 km) under the theme of Let’s Run for Fitness and celebration of Girl Child Week on 24th Jan 2021.
The dignitaries present were Mr. B.B Rai from Jan Sewa Samaaj , Nehru yuva kendra youth coordinator Mr. Dev Nepal and Iconic Chief Guest Mr. Amar s***a (Marathon Man )
The Marathon Run flag off by Mr. Amar S***a at 8.30 am started from 8th Mile for three categories Open category (above 16 -39 years) both men and women, under 16 Category (Both Girls and boys)and veteran category above 40 years ( both men and women). The Marathon started from 8th Mile and finished at Kyongsha Stadium along Bhanu Salig Road. The total no. of participants were 105.
• The main objective of conducting marathon run today is to educate maximum people about celebration of Girl Child week from 21st to 26th Jan 2021 and to aware people from in around from Geyzing about existence of Mahila Shakti Kendra and the importance of fitness among women. The program concluded after awarding the certificates to participants by Amar S***a (Marathon Man) , B.B Limboo (President) and women welfare officer Ms. Maneka Chettri. And the felicitation to winners will be held at Skylark, Geyzing on completing of 36 years of Jan Sewa Samaj in presence of minister Mr. Loknath Sharma whereas DLCW west will felicitate winners with cash prize and Souvenir on 26th Jan 2021.

Student volunteers from west working selflessly on NITI Ayog and women centric schemes under the guidance of Mahila Shakti Kendra.
The volunteers have visited to Senior Citizen in remote areas and seek their grievances on Medical issue, ration supply, and problems to visit bank due to pandemic of COVID 19 / Natural Disaster.
And advised them to take proper precautions while visiting Hospitals , Shops and Banks.
They have also asked if they are facing any other issues apart from the above problems.

The team of DLCW West Observed World Breastfeeding Week on 06th Aug at Upper Bhaluthang I.C.D.S centre at Sakyong.
Where importance of breast feeding was discussed to protect and promote women's access to skilled breastfeeding support.
It provides every child with the best possible start in life. It delivers health,nutritional and emotion benefits to both child and mothers.
We also shared the names of the easily available fruits, vegetables to consume at the time of breastfeeding meanwhile to maintain hygiene.
We encourage women to breastfeed their child till 6 months instead of giving them external food and nutrition.
Information shared on women centric schemes such as:
Matru Vandhana yojana, Unmarried women pension schemes, Widow remarriage schemes, Inter caste marriage Schemes, one stop center, women helpline etc. At the same time information given on NITI Ayog and talked about the problem facing by senior citizen on health, mental stability, failing to procure ration due to rising case of COVID 19.
The NITI Ayog has formed volunteers to help senior citizen on facing above issues.
