Heartiest congratulations and a proud moment for the Karbi Society Mrs. Pokhila Lekthepi, a Karbi folk singer from Assam, has been selected for the Padma Shri 2026. Known as the ‘Queen of Melody,’ she has composed over 300 folk songs, expanding the reach of Karbi music. Her dedication inspires young artists to preserve and innovate traditional Karbi melodies, and her recognition will boost cultural initiatives and folk music education across the region.
