Business Incubation Center in Fisheries and Aquaculture (BICFA) is organizing “Skill Development Training Programme on Aquarium Setup for Ornamental Fishkeeping” (6th edition) at Guwahati Biotech Park (GBP), Amingaon, Guwahati-781031 on 5th June, 2026 from 10 AM onwards.🌿
The training programme aims to equip participants with the necessary expertise to establish and manage ornamental fish farming and start their own business in aquaculture. We cordially invite all interested participants to join the programme and help to make it a successful one.🏆🐠🐟

Strengthening pathways for innovation, sustainability and aquapreneurship

Guwahati Biotech Park (GBP) had the privilege of hosting Dr. Siddhartha Purkayastha, former Joint Director of Fisheries, Govt. of Assam, and an eminent expert associated with leading national and international agencies including TIFAC (Dept. of Science & Technology, Govt. of India), WAPCOS Ltd. (Ministry of Jal Shakti), and projects supported by the World Bank, JICA, and ADB.

He was accompanied by Shri Harendra Nath Rabha, from Kahibari Fishery Co-operative Society Ltd & TSC Cohort 1.0 winner. His entrepreneurial journey in the fisheries sector stands as a strong example of innovation-driven rural livelihood development.

During the visit, Dr. Purkayastha interacted with the BICFA, GBP team and entrepreneurs, sharing his extensive experience in fisheries development, project implementation, and policy-level interventions.

The visit served as an enriching platform for knowledge exchange, mentorship, and exploring future collaborations to further strengthen the fisheries and aquaculture ecosystem in the region.

Exploring Innovation & Incubation Excellence at a-IDEA!

Team from Business Incubation Centre for Fisheries and Aquaculture (BICFA), Guwahati Biotech Park (GBP) comprising Dr. Bula Choudhury, Senior Scientist, PI-BICFA, Dr. Rajiv Chandra Dev Goswami, Research Associate, CO-PI, BICFA, and Mr. Nabajyoti Das, Project Associate, BICFA visited a-IDEA at ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad, which is a premier Technology Business Incubator supported by DST and BIRAC, playing a pivotal role in nurturing startups across agriculture and allied sectors on 18th March 2026

The team had an engaging and in-depth discussion with Mr. Paritosh Tripathi, COO, a-IDEA and his team focusing on strategic collaboration opportunities to strengthen the startup and incubation ecosystem in the Northeast Region.

Key Discussion Areas:

· Exchange of best practices in incubation management and startup mentoring

· Designing joint capacity-building and entrepreneurship development programs

· Exploring technology transfer and commercialization pathways

· Building collaborative platforms for agri-fisheries startups

· Strengthening innovation-driven ecosystem development in the NER

The team interacted with the leadership to explore collaborative opportunities in agri-fisheries incubation and entrepreneurship. The visit paves the way for stronger innovation-driven partnerships for the Northeast region.

The visit offered valuable insights into rural technologies and sustainable livelihood models.
The team held insightful discussions with experts from the Centre for Innovation and Rural Technology, including Dr. C. Kethiresan, Head and Dr Khan, senior consultant, focusing on:

· Rural incubation models and enterprise development

· Integration of technology with grassroots livelihoods

· Opportunities for capacity building and skill development

· Scope for collaborative innovation in fisheries and allied sectors

Visit to Rural Technology Park (RTP):
A major highlight of the visit was the exposure to the Rural Technology Park, a unique demonstration hub showcasing innovative, low-cost, and scalable technologies designed for rural communities.
