A delegation of the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), led by Hon’ble Rajya Sabha MP Shri Pramod Boro, along with Hon’ble Rajya Sabha MP Shri Rwngwra Narzary and Hon’ble Lok Sabha MP Shri Jayanta Basumatary, met Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi at Parliament House today.

The delegation held a meaningful discussion on issues of vital importance to BTR and Assam, with special emphasis on the speedy and complete implementation of all remaining clauses of the historic BTR Accord, signed in 2020 under the guidance of the Hon’ble Prime Minister.

The delegation particularly urged the Hon’ble Prime Minister for early passage of the 125th Constitutional Amendment Bill, including provisions concerning the Sixth Schedule and Article 280, to further strengthen and empower the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTR).

The leaders also drew attention to the recurring floods and erosion caused by rivers and streams flowing from Bhutan into BTR and sought appropriate long-term measures to address the problem. The severe flood situation affecting several districts of Upper Assam was also discussed, with a request for special intervention and support.

UPPL remains committed to pursuing the aspirations of the people of BTR at the highest levels of the Government and ensuring that the commitments of the BTR Accord are translated into action.

A strong and meaningful engagement in New Delhi towards fulfilling the commitments of the historic BTR Accord 2020.

Under the leadership of Hon’ble Rajya Sabha MP Shri Pramod Boro, along with Hon’ble Lok Sabha MP Shri Joyanta Basumatary and UPPL Vice President Shri Dipen Boro, key issues concerning BTR and the Bodo people were placed before Union Home Secretary Shri Govind Mohan.

The discussions covered the 125th Constitutional Amendment, ST (Hill) status, inclusion of additional villages in BTR, provincialisation of educational institutions, rehabilitation-related issues and implementation of the ₹1,500 crore Special Development Package.

Special emphasis was also placed on making the Bodoland Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC) a full-fledged and functional autonomous institution. Despite its formation, elections to the Council are yet to be held, while its territorial boundaries and constituency delimitation remain to be finalised. Completing these fundamental processes is essential for establishing an elected and representative Council capable of effectively serving the Bodo-Kachari people living outside BTR.

Strong representation in Parliament gives our people a stronger voice in New Delhi. The effort must continue until every remaining commitment of the BTR Accord is translated from agreement into action.

For BTR and for Bodo people living beyond BTR — representation, rights and development must move forward together.

A long-standing demand of the people of Bodoland has finally become a reality.

Heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw Ji and Railway Board Chairman & CEO Shri Satish Kumar Ji for approving Railway Recruitment Board examination centres in Kokrajhar.

This initiative, undertaken during the tenure of our UPPL-led BTC Government, will now open new job opportunities for the youth of Bodoland.
