The Sattriya Kendra, established in Guwahati as a part of Sangeet Natak Akademi’s project supporting Sattriya Dance and allied traditions, has been operating since July 2008, and has so far undertaken various activities of sponsoring and promoting Sattriya Dance, Music and Theatre in different places across the country. The Akademi’s Sattriya project is gradually coordinating and monitoring all th

e ongoing activities related to Sattriya. Sattriya Kendra is serving as a focal centre for training, production, performance, research, documentation and publication support to the entire field of Sattriya Dance, Music and Theatre. The Centre has also been organizing Annual Festivals of Sattriya Dance, Music and Theatre, sponsoring of Sattriya performances outside the state, and maintaining the overall standard of performance within the state. Training programmes are also being initiated under different Gurus to strengthen the activities outside the tradition of the Sattriya culture.
