When Allegations Are Ignored, Democracy Suffers
BJP MLA Jayanta Malla Baruah from Assam was accused of involvement in the theft of mother cows, an issue that directly affects farmers, indigenous communities, and cultural values of our state.
Yet, the ruling BJP government has not taken any visible action to clarify the allegations or ensure a transparent investigation.
Is this what “double engine government” means?
Is accountability only for opposition leaders and common citizens?
Why the silence when serious accusations are raised against a BJP MLA?
Assam deserves truth, transparency, and equal justice, not selective action based on political power.
The people have the right to know the facts.
No one should be above the law.

The BJP government in Assam is systematically grabbing the lands of indigenous people and handing them over to big corporates on 100-year lease deals.
This is not development — this is displacement.
For generations, indigenous communities have protected and lived on these lands. Today, without consent, without justice, their homes and livelihoods are being taken away in the name of “investment” and “growth.” Who benefits from this model? Certainly not the people of Assam.
Development should empower local communities, not turn them into landless spectators while corporates profit. Assam is not for sale. Indigenous rights are not negotiable.
We will continue to raise our voice against this injustice and stand firmly with the khilonjia (indigenous) people of Assam.
