| In April 2020, Pernod Ricard India Foundation reconfigured its WE Social Impact Incubator to accelerate Innovations by women entrepreneurs.

This week, as we continue to celebrate women in our business and communities, watch Shivi Kapil, Founder & CEO, Empathy Design Labs, talk about her solution which has helped pregnant women across the urban-rural divide to monitor their prenatal health amid restricted access to hospitals in view of preventive lockdowns across the country during the last year.

We are proud to incubate such innovations and enable women changemakers in their journey to drive inclusive and scalable social impact.

| Within the communities we work with, Pernod Ricard India's WAL program is empowering more than 5633 smallholding farmers to go beyond subsistence-based living and earn better disposable incomes.

Promotion of low cost micro-agriculture has revolutionized the optimal use of landholdings as small as 540 sq. m. | We are committed to preventing and reversing land degradation by promoting sustainable agricultural production with farming communities near our operations.

The WAL (Water, Agriculture, Livelihoods) program tailors locally feasible, climate resilient and cost-efficient approaches to scaling up the crop productivity and filling erratic knowledge gaps with capacity building of 2,000+ farmers.

With 210 trainings, farmers been provided with unique Package of Practices (PoP) to sustainably improve soil nutrition, seed selection and cropping practices. This has demonstrated a 12-34% increase in yield of local crops in Behror. In Derabassi, Rice & Wheat Intensification have been designed specifically for small farmers offering a 20% yield increase at negligible cost.

- As India’s water scarcity problem aggravates each year, shaping drought-resilient communities near our operations is a key tenet of the WAL(Water, Agriculture, Livelihoods) program.

Primarily working with agrarian communities in 120 villages, the program has ensured that they have year-round access to water with 124 surface storage and groundwater recharge structures created last year. Given that more than 80% of India’s freshwater is used in agriculture in largely unsustainable ways, the program is also helping farmers switch to micro-irrigation practices such as sprinkler and drip irrigation. These interventions coupled with laser land-levelling techniques have demonstrated up to 40% decrease in water use in agriculture.
