Underground Pressurized O-PVC Pipe Distribution System with Automation Facility for Lift Irrigation Schemes
Underground pressurized pipe distribution network using O-PVC pipes has been designed and implemented under Golaghat Sarupathar Division (Irrigation), Golaghat schemes for efficient and scientific water management.
The work comprises :
• 11 (eleven) Lift Irrigation Scheme (LIS) points
• Total Net Irrigated Area (NIA) = 2060 Ha
• More than 60 Km Underground pressurized pipe network
• More than 15 Km of open canal
• More than 1100 m of Bank protection works
• River Doyang as the source of water.
Further, automation through SCADA system is being implemented at 1 (one) point under the project for advanced monitoring and operational control.
The adoption of O-PVC pipe technology, pressurized pipe network design, and SCADA-based automation is very new in the Irrigation Department, Assam, marking a significant technological advancement in the irrigation sector of the State.
Continuous efforts are being made through field trials, performance monitoring, and farmer feedback to enhance system efficiency and reliability. With each phase of implementation, we are adapting and improving to achieve optimal water use efficiency and sustainable agricultural growth.
We believe that with our dedicated efforts, technological adoption, and practical experience, the system will be further refined in the coming years, ensuring better service delivery to farmers and contributing significantly to the agricultural development of the region.
