The formal function began with the ceremonial cutting of the birthday cake, followed by the National Anthem of India,
a Mandala Offering and the Long Life Prayer for His Holiness were offered, invoking prayers for his continued good health, longevity, and the well-being of all sentient beings.

A major attraction of the celebration was the colourful cultural programme featuring traditional performances by community groups reflecting the region’s rich cultural diversity.
