According to Ramayan, Lord Ram came to Gaya along with his wife Sita to perform the holy rites in remembrance of his deceased father King Dasarath during the fortnight long period just before Durga Puja known as "PitraPaksha".
People from different parts of the world come to Gaya for the same ritual known as "PindDaan".
