In commemoration of the joyous occasion of the 118th National Day of Bhutan, the Royal Bhutanese Consulate General in Guwahati hosted a reception dinner on 19 December 2025. Officials of the Government of Assam, Dzongdags and Dungpas from the districts adjoining Assam, members of Assam tour operators, friends of Bhutan, and members of the Bhutanese community attended the event. Shri Biswajit Diamary, Honourable Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Assam, graced the reception dinner as the Chief Guest.

To commemorate the 118th National Day of the Kingdom of Bhutan, Bhutan Shop, a dedicated retail outlet for authentic Bhutanese products, was officially inaugurated in Guwahati.

Bhutan Shop has been jointly established by Phuntsho Ngaden Tshonglay, a Bhutanese enterprise based in Olakha, Thimphu, and Purbanchal Banijya Vikash Private Limited, a Guwahati-based business entity.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by H.E. Mr. Jigme Thinley Namgyal, Consul General of the Royal Bhutanese Consulate in Guwahati, as the Chief Guest.

The outlet showcases a wide range of Bhutanese products, including agro and food items, traditional and value-added products, handicrafts, wellness products, and other locally produced goods.

The gathering viewed the live telecast of His Majesty The King’s National Day Address to the Nation. The celebration included cultural performances by Bhutanese students studying in Guwahati.
