Rangpo, August 06: On August 05, Hon’ble Minister, PHED, Ven. Sonam Lama, along with the Secretary and the entire departmental team, inspected the arrangements being made at the venue in Rangpo to ensure the grand celebration of Aama Samman Diwas 2025.
Hon’ble Minister issued strict directives to the Department for ensuring adequate water supply for the event.
As per the instructions of the Hon’ble Minister, PHED, the Department has expressed its commitment to working in close coordination with the MEO, Rangpo, to ensure that all arrangements are made in line with the programme requirements.

WELCOME PROGRAMME-CUM-DEPARTMENTAL CO-ORDINATION MEETING
Gangtok, August 01, 2025: The Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) organized a function in the Conference Hall of the Nirman Bhawan Complex for welcoming the newly appointed Chairperson Smt. Chumila Bhutia and the Officer on Special Duty Shri Ram Kumar Chhetri.
During the first half of the programme, Shri. Sailendra Sharma, Secretary, PHED along with Departmental team accorded a warm welcome to the dignitaries by offering of bouquet and khadas. In his welcome address, the Secretary conveyed the excitement and aspiration of the Department as the dignitaries bring with them enormous grass root level experience. The Department seeks collaborative guidance and innovative ideas for taking the Department forward to improve our service delivery to the public.
This was followed by the Technical Session, in the second half, where all the District Heads (Gangtok, Mangan, Pakyong, Gyalshing, Namchi, Soreng and Sewerage) submitted their presentation. Scheme-wise progress, challenges and solution were explained. Thereafter, the Secretary wrapped up the by presenting an overview of the Department and apprised the dignitaries about functioning of the Department as per the Allocation of Business Rules and the various funding modalities etc. the Departmental Team were also reiterated about the Sikkim Government Service Rules and the Leave Rules and what is expected of every Government employee.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Shri Chuksung Lepcha, Additional Secretary, PHED followed by light refreshment.
