A second coordination meeting was held at the Tadong Party Office in preparation for the upcoming World Environment Day celebrations, wherein plans were finalized for a large-scale cleanliness drive to be conducted from 5th to 7th June.

The initiative, being organized under the guidance of Hon’ble Minister-cum-Area MLA Shri G.T. Dhungel, is expected to witness active participation from educational institutions, colleges, neighbouring constituencies, and members of the public, reflecting a collective commitment towards environmental conservation and community service.

Inspired by the vision of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), who consistently emphasizes the importance of staying connected to Mother Earth, this initiative aims to foster environmental awareness, civic responsibility, and a spirit of togetherness among the people. Through such collective efforts, we can contribute meaningfully towards building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable society.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Minister cm Area MLA Shri GT Dhungel joined by Shri Manoj Pradhan, Chairman, Department of AYUSH, and was attended by Shri Karma S***a, OSD to HCM (Political Affairs); Shri Bimal Thatal, CLC President; Ms Bhawana Rai, Councillor; Shri Sonam Pintso Bhutia, Councillor; Shri Milan Gautam; Councillor, Smt Bhim Kumari Sharma, Chairperson (Culture Department); along with several other party dignitaries and members.

The mass cleanliness cm plantation drive from Pani House towards May Fair under the theme 'Inspired by Nature, for the Planet for Future' will be kicked off on the occasion of World Environment Day, tomorrow on June 5 and will go on till June 7. All the residents of Upper Tadong including the student, busines community members and general public are appealed to extend their active participation for Clean and Green Upper Tadong and Sikkim.

27 Mountain Division Honours Sikkim Nationalised Transport Department
The Sikkim Nationalised Transport (SNT) was honoured by the Indian Army’s 27 Mountain Division for its outstanding contribution to reconstruction work in North Sikkim and for providing continuous logistical support to Army personnel stationed there under difficult conditions.
During a ceremony held at the 27th Mountain Division Headquarters in Kalimpong, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Division presented a Commendation Certificate and Memento to SNT.
Despite adverse weather and challenging geographical conditions, Sikkim Nationalised Transport made significant contributions to the reconstruction efforts in North Sikkim. The organization also ensured the uninterrupted supply of essential materials, fuel and other logistics to Army personnel deployed in the region.
The citation highlighted the long-standing cooperative and strong relationship between the Indian Army and SNT. SNT has been playing an important role in maintaining supply chains, transportation services and the movement of Army personnel to various Army locations in North Sikkim.
At the event, Shri Dupka Sherpa, General Manager, Shri Roshan Gurung, Additional General Manager (Gangtok), Shri Bhupendra Chettri Additional General Manager (Siliguri) and Shri Tardup Lepcha, Assistant Engineer, (SNT Siliguri) were present.
Likewise, the dedicated drivers of Sikkim Nationalised Transport - Shri Pempa Sherpa, Shri Bhim Chettri, Shri Homraj Chettri, Shri Prasad Rai, Shri Raju Gurung and Shri Bhanu Prasad Sharma were also present.
PCE-cum-Secretary of Sikkim Transport Department, Shri Manish Pradhan congratulated the officers and staffs of SNT on receiving the honour. He stated that the recognition reflects the department’s dedication, commitment and sense of responsibility. In his message, he stated that the achievement was made possible under the visionary guidance of the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang and through the leadership and support of Hon’ble MLA-cum-Advisor (SNT) Shri Madan Cintury. He also stated that the honour would inspire the department to continue delivering efficient and dedicated services to the people.
The recognition is regarded not only as an acknowledgment of SNT’s commendable service but also as a testament to the strong coordination, mutual trust, and enduring partnership between the Indian Army and the civil administration.

Shri Karma Tamling, OSD to the Hon’ble Chief Minister, accompanied by State-Level Press & Publicity President Smt. Ranjana Pradhan and party workers, visited the residence of Late Jan Maya Rai at Lower Gangla under the Rangang–Yangang Constituency to pay their heartfelt tributes to the departed soul and stand in solidarity with the bereaved family.
During the visit, they met with the bereaved family and conveyed their sympathies, offering prayers for the eternal peace of the departed soul. They also expressed solidarity with the grieving family and prayed for the strength and courage to help them overcome this difficult period.

Inspection Visit to Ratey Chu Bridge-II

Following his previous visit, during which he had directed the concerned authorities to expedite the work within 15 days, Honourable MLA/Advisor Shri Thenlay Tshering Bhutia revisited the ongoing construction site of Ratey Chu Bridge-II to review the progress of the project. The bridge is located at the gateway to North Sikkim under the 29th Kabi-Lungchok Constituency.

During the visit, he assessed the progress of the bridge construction and inquired about the availability of construction materials, particularly metal required for the project. He interacted with officials from the National Highway authorities and gathered detailed information regarding the status of the work. Officials informed him that the bridge is expected to be completed by November 2026. They further stated that the ongoing monsoon season and the high velocity of the river water continue to pose challenges to the construction process.

Also present were the Chief Engineer, Superintending Engineer, Divisional Engineer, Assistant Engineer, Junior Engineers, the Project Manager, and other officials and staff of the National Highway Department during the inspection.

The Honourable MLA/Advisor was accompanied by OSD Shri Lazong Bhutia, SDM Smt. Monika Rai, BDO Shri Tashi Wangyal Bhutia, Councillor Shri Ongden Bhutia, CLC President Shri Subash S***a, Panchayat Shri Mingmar Tshering Bhutia, and other local representatives.

Shri Karma Tashi Bhutia, Chairman, Sikkim Housing Board, Government of Sikkim, graced the inaugural ceremony of the newly established Science Laboratory and the Farewell Programme held at Government Junior High School, Sajong, under Budang Kamerey GPU, Pakyong District.

The programme was attended by several distinguished dignitaries, including Coordinator of Pharmaceutical Company Shri Hari Dangal, Additional Political Secretary to the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Bishal Pokhrel, OSD to IT Shri Bum Tshering Yonzon, CA to the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Urgen Lepcha, Zilla Panchayats Shri Robin Tamang and Shri Bibek Chettri, CLC President Shri Mahendra S***a, officials from the Education Department including the Joint Director, Panchayat Presidents Shri C.K. Giri and Smt. Goma Dhakal, along with other esteemed guests, teachers, students, and members of the local community.

On the occasion, Smt. Jamuna Kumari Sharma, a recently retired teacher of Sajong JHS, was felicitated in recognition of her unwavering dedication, sincere service, and invaluable contribution to the field of education throughout her distinguished career. Transferred teachers and outgoing students were also honoured with tokens of appreciation as a gesture of gratitude, encouragement, and best wishes for their future endeavours.

During the programme, Shri Prakash Pokhrel, Headmaster of the school, presented an overview of the institution, highlighting its achievements, developmental progress, and future aspirations.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest congratulated the school administration, teachers, students, and the community on the successful establishment of the Science Laboratory, which will greatly enhance practical learning opportunities for students. He also extended his heartfelt best wishes to the retired teacher, transferred teachers, and outgoing students for success in their future journeys.

In his address, Shri Karma Tashi Bhutia commended the visionary leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Prem Singh Tamang, for prioritizing the overall development of the education sector in Sikkim. He highlighted the government’s continued commitment to strengthening educational infrastructure and creating better opportunities for students across the state. He further urged everyone to support the Hon’ble Chief Minister’s vision and collective efforts towards building a progressive, prosperous, and holistically developed Sikkim.
