On the occasion of World Menstrual Health Day, observed on 28th May 2026, NSS unit of Namcheybong Sr. Secondary School organized an awareness session to highlight the importance of menstrual health and hygiene.
The programme aimed to create awareness about the challenges many girls face during menstruation and emphasized the need for support, understanding, and care from society, especially from men.
Discussions were also held on the social taboos that still exist in many parts of India, where girls and women are often restricted from carrying out their daily activities during menstruation.
We were honoured to have Ms. Abhista Basnett, a talented 15-year-old football player from Namcheybong, Pakyong, as the Chief Guest for the day. Recently, she proudly represented India in a football match held in China against Japan and returned with inspiring experiences to share with the students.
During her speech, Abhista spoke about her journey, struggles, dedication, and experiences as a young athlete. Her inspiring words motivated the students and reminded everyone of the importance of prioritizing both health and personal goals with confidence and determination.
The session left a meaningful impact on everyone present, encouraging students to break stereotypes, spread awareness, and work towards building a healthier and more supportive society.
Principal Madam extended her heartfelt wishes to Abhista Basnett for a bright future and all her upcoming endeavours.
