Greetings from AAPG Student Chapter!

The AAPG PDEU Student Chapter has been re-established in August 2021 to assist the students in getting knowledge within the industry by allowing them to connect with professionals within the industry and encourage them to learn deep in this field by conducting surfeit educational affairs throughout the year.

The Chapter provides an innovative and informal environment for undergraduates with interest in geology and geophysics, who want to be a step ahead of their peers, by hosting a variety of activities that support both the inside and outside of the classroom environment, such as: brief courses, guest lectures, field trips, and workshops and much more.

AAPG PDEU is starting an entirely new series about the truths you didn’t know. On that note, we would like to present you:
‘ DID YOU KNOW? ’

In 1854, The Pennsylvania Rock oil company became the first company to drill for oil. Up to that time, crude oil was collected from where the crude oil seeped to the surface. People would fill buckets from these seeps and burn the crude for fuel.
The first successful oil well in North America was in oil springs, Ontario, Canada, in 1858. The field is still producing a small quantity of oil today.

Apart from acedemics PDEU also focuses on curricular as well as non curricular activities for overall development of its students. Not only PDEU offers excellent placements but also provides various Internship to acquaint students with industry insights which grooms them for future.

We are very proud and honoured to be a part of such a great institution.

Founded in 2013, the PDEU Chapter of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. Despite the fact that it is the newest of all the PDEU student chapters, AAPG has received a lot of praise from both students and educators.
