At Senior Citizen Home Ganderbal, we believe that care goes beyond walls—it extends to dignity, respect, and humanity.

One of our long-time residents had been battling respiratory issues for some time, often requiring hospitalisation. During each of these difficult moments, our staff stood by him—attending to him in the hospital for days, ensuring he never felt alone.

Sadly, he recently passed away while under medical care at SKIMS Soura. Even in his final journey, our team took it upon themselves to arrange the respectful shifting of his body, facilitating transportation and all necessary arrangements to his native village, where he was laid to rest with dignity.

We laud our staff who served the deceased senior with sympathy, dedication, and humanity until the very end.

Help us in reuniting this individual with his family
An unknown individual identifying himself as Shimun Lagun from West Bengal was brought to the valley for work by a man named Jagat Paul, who got him a position as a security guard at a hospital in Sumbhal four days ago. Jagat Paul has since been unreachable, leaving Shimun anxious and worried due to his inability to contact him, as he doesn't have Jagat's phone number or one from home. Overwhelmed by his anxiety, he left his job and began wandering the streets. He was found by the Ganderbal Police and brought to the Senior Citizens Home in Wayil, Ganderbal. The staff there are currently trying to verify his identity. If anyone recognizes him or has information about his family, please reach out to assist in reuniting him with them.

On August 29, 2024, Miss Nahida M***i, a trainee judge visited the Senior Citizen Home in Ganderbal to get an understanding of services provided at the home and to interact with the residents.

Miss M***i engaged in meaningful conversations with the inmates. She enquired about their well-being and how they felt about living at the home.

Miss Nahida M***i brought refreshments for the residents to make her visit a pleasant experience.

Bringing joy to our elders! 🌼
The Senior Citizen Home Ganderbal, run by She Hope Society for Women Entrepreneurs, organized a delightful outing to Jorkha Bagh and Manasbal. Our cherished seniors enjoyed a refreshing day in nature, sharing smiles and creating new memories.

On April 5th, 2024, at 10:30 am, an unidentified elderly person was delivered to Ahat-e-Waqar (Senior Citizen Home, Ganderbal) by the Ganderbal Police. The senior citizen home in Ganderbal provided care for him, with the staff making dedicated efforts. Counsellors worked hard to assist him, as he seemed to have difficulty remembering his name or address. Following this, we posted an appeal on our social media platform (Facebook) to help identify the individual in question.
After three days, his two sons contacted us after watching our video on Facebook. After collaborating with Ganderbal and Chanapora police stations, the person in question was handed over to his sons.
