*A one-day training programme on Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyaan under the ATF Scheme was successfully organized by the Department of Health, Ganderbal, in accordance with the directions of the worthy Chief Secretary during the previous NCORD meeting. The event was held under the chairmanship of Dr. B.A. Khan, Chief Medical Officer Ganderbal.* The training aimed to raise awareness about the symptoms, signs, and preventive measures related to drug addiction and to promote a collective effort to combat this social menace. Representatives from various institutions participated in the programme, including the Central University of Kashmir (CUK), Degree College Ganderbal, Degree College Kangan, SKUAST Forestry Branch Benhama, Government Polytechnic College Hatbura, and Government Engineering College Safapora.Expert sessions were conducted by Dr. Asif Qadri and MS Afshan, who shared valuable insights into the causes, effects, and prevention of drug addiction. The event began with a warm welcome address by Dr. Nighat Bashir, DHO Ganderbal, setting a constructive and engaging tone for the day-long session.An interactive online quiz, coordinated by Mohammad Yaseen Mir, DPC Ganderbal, added an engaging element to the programme, reinforcing the knowledge imparted during the training. In his concluding remarks, Dr. B.A. Khan appreciated the enthusiastic participation of all attendees and emphasized the need for continued awareness and collaborative efforts to build a drug-free society.The programme concluded successfully, fostering enhanced awareness and renewed commitment among the youth and educational institutions of Ganderbal district to curb the growing challenge of drug addiction. *Celebration of Swasth Nari Sashakt Pariwar Abhiyaan in District Ganderbal*

*Ganderbal, September 17, 2025 – The Swasth Nari Sashakt Pariwar Abhiyaan was today inaugurated in District Ganderbal by the esteemed public representatives, under the overall supervision of Dr. B.A. Khan, Chief Medical Officer, Ganderbal.*

The campaign, which aims to promote the health and empowerment of women and strengthen family well-being, was launched with enthusiastic participation from health officials, frontline workers, and the community. Various awareness activities, screening camps, and health promotion initiatives will be carried out across the district during the course of the Abhiyaan.

Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries emphasized the importance of women’s health as the foundation of a healthy and progressive society. Dr. B.A. Khan appreciated the joint efforts of the health department, field staff, and community stakeholders in making the programme successful.

The Swasth Nari Sashakt Pariwar Abhiyaan will continue in District Ganderbal until 2nd October 2025, with a special focus on maternal health, non-communicable diseases, nutrition, and family well-being.

*DC Ganderbal calls for effective implementation of COTPA Act*

GANDERBAL, JANAURY 03: A review meeting of the District-Level Coordination Committee (DLCC) under the National To***co Control Programme (NTCP) was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shyambir to review and assess the implementation of to***co control measures across the district here in the V.C Room of DC Office.

During the meeting, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr. Bashir Ahmad Khan, Ganderbal delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting provisions of the Ci******es and Other To***co Products Act (COTPA), 2003.

He highlighted the strategies for establishing To***co-Free Institutions, Villages, and Workplaces.

He emphasized to promote and declare more institutions, villages, and workplaces as to***co-free zones.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC emphasized the need for coordinated and sustained effort to make Ganderbal a model district in effective to***co control. He urged all stakeholders to work collectively towards achieving the goal of a To***co-Free Ganderbal.

The DC issued the several directions to all stakeholders for effective implementation of the COTPA Act, 2003, across the district to curb to***co use.

He also stressed to Promote and declare more institutions, villages, and workplaces as to***co-free zone, thereby fostering a healthier environment.

The meeting concluded with a strong commitment from all stakeholders to intensify their efforts and ensure timely reporting and monitoring of progress under the NTCP.

The meeting was attended by various stakeholders, including EO Municipal Council Ganderbal, MS District Hospital, DySP HQ, Food Inspector, Assistant Information Officer, Officials from Education and Sales Tax Departments.
