Se Cathedral, Old Goa

The Se Cathedral was built to commemorate the victory of the Portuguese under Afonso de Albuquerque over a Muslim army, leading to the capture of the city of Goa in 1510. Since the day of the victory happened to be on the feast of Saint Catherine, the cathedral was dedicated to her. Construction of the church began in 1562 in the reign of King Dom Sebastião. The cathedral was completed in 1619 and was consecrated in 1640. It had two towers, but one collapsed in 1776 and was never rebuilt. In 1953, the Cathedral was presented with "The Golden Rose" by Venerable Pope Pius XII. The Golden Rose is a gold ornament, which the Popes of the Catholic Church have traditionally blessed and conferred as a token of reverence or affection. It is placed on the tomb of St. Francis Xavier.

Chorla Ghats
Chorla Ghat is a nature destination located on the intersection of the borders of Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra. It lies to the north-east of Panaji, Goa (about 50 kilometers by road) and nearly 55 kilometers from Belgaum , Karnataka . It is a part of the Western Ghats in the Sahyadri mountain range and is at an elevation of 800 meters. Chorla ghat boasts of a few rare species of wild-life such as the barred wolf snake (Lycodon striatus) in its sub-tropical forests.

Aravalem Waterfall
Located around10kms far from Bicholim, this 50 meters waterfall is an underwhelming sight for those who have witnessed the Dudhsagar. But not many people know this isolated little waterfall and is great for spending some quiet time with the sound of water.
Around the fall are other hidden places in Goa such as the Rudreshwar Temple and Arvalem Caves.

Varca Beach
Located around 40km away from Panjim, Varca is renowned for it beaches, hence it has become a popular destination for tourists. The row of wooden fishing boats seen on the beach belong to the Christian fishing community. Popular beach resorts in Varca include the ZURI White Sands Resort, The Club Mahindra Beach Resort. Its not much crowded and a good picnic spot.

BAGA Beach
Baga is located around 12km from Mapusa and most famous beach in Goa.The beach is named after the Baga Creek, which empties into the Arabian Sea at the north end of the beach. The beach contains rows of shacks and fishing boats. Baga Beach is also famous for parasailing, water sports (banana ride) and dolphin cruises.

THREE KINGS CHURCH
What we feel when we heard the word "Church"? Peace of mind, the pure sound of Bells. Place for holy spirits. Obviously we must not to be feared from ghost in a church. But can god and ghost resides in same place. It arguments may lead you in philosophical concepts. But we the common people run on our feelings. There is a Church in Goa people can feel their sensation and you can mean the word "their".
3 kings Church, Goa. "3 kings church" is a church in village cansaulim, 15 km far from velsao in south Goa. People who sometimes liked a walk around the church or at the time of evening when church generally going to close, the felt sometime uncanny feelings and presence of some strong personalities. Those phantom beings never hurt anyone. But at least one can feel them. People feared after understand that someone is there beside them.

Shree Ramnath Devasthan, Ramnathi, Ponda
Shri Ramanath Deity was originally installed 3000 years B.C by Rama at Rameshwar. When Rama came back from Lanka along with Sita, after killing Ravana, he decided to pray to Shiva in order to absolve him of killing a Brahmin. Hence a Shivlinga was installed and Rama prayed to it. Lord Shiva came and sent Rama to Guru Gorakshnath. There are 12 Panths and One of the Panth started from Rama. This came to be known as Ramanath.

The Salaulim/Selaulim dam
It lies on the Selaulim river at about 5 km from the Sanguem town. it is Goa's biggest man-made water storage source that is also a favourite picnic spot for locals. During the monsoons, the misty outlook of the western ghats against the backdrop of the dam is truly breathtaking. One can spend hours here in its scenic beauty. To get to the Selaulim dam one can enjoy a 35 km picturesque drive from Margao. Once you cross Curchorem and reach Sanguem, the dam lies on Selaulim river.

Chapora Fort...
Located around 12Kms from Mapusa. You must have been seen this fort in a movie... Yeah right 'Dil Chahta Hai'... This fort is just above on the hill at Vagator beach. The fort lies in ruins... But still a famous Tourist Attraction... You can get a view of Vagator as well as Morjim beach when you stand on fort...
