NHPC champions clean, renewable energy with minimal carbon footprints, supporting the national grid and integrating solar and wind energy into the power system. Currently, NHPC's total installed capacity is 7144.20 MW and the company is presently engaged in the construction of projects aggregating to 10492.70 MW. 60% of all hydro projects under construction in India. Among its flagship endeavours, the 2000 MW Subansiri Lower project stands as a testament to NHPC's prowess, representing one of India's largest hydroelectric projects. Similarly, the 2880 MW Dibang Multi-purpose project underlines NHPC's commitment to pioneering initiatives in power generation and flood moderation. As of December 31st 2023, NHPC boasts an authorized share capital of Rs. 15,000 crore and total investment base of Rs. 79789.87 crore. Having successfully concluded its IPO in 2009, NHPC is listed on both the NSE and BSE. NHPC's is a financially robust company which has consistently shown strong financial performance since its inception. The company registered a Profit after Tax (PAT) of Rs. 3744 crore for FY 2023-24. In line with the Government of India's clean energy transition objectives, NHPC is steadfastly working towards achieving an installed capacity of 23000 MW by 2032 and 50000 MW by 2047. This trajectory will elevate NHPC amongst the world's top 10 hydropower companies. NHPC is not only playing a crucial role in India’s energy security but is also empowering the people at large with its CSR initiatives aiming at overall socio-economic development of the common masses.

Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Projects), NHPC, met Shri Atal Dulloo (IAS), Chief Secretary, UT of Jammu & Kashmir, on 03 September 2026 at Srinagar. During the meeting, Director (Projects) apprised the Chief Secretary about various projects being implemented by NHPC in the UT and discussed key issues concerning their expeditious progress. He requested for expediting the approval of Private/ Sate/ Forest land for Dulhasti Stage-II HEP and early nomination of an accredited agency for undertaking the Social Impact Assessment (SIA) studies for Sawalkote HE Project.
Shri Singh subsequently met Shri Shailendra Kumar (IAS), Additional Chief Secretary (Finance); Shri Ashwani Kumar (IAS), Additional Chief Secretary (PDD) and Shri Kumar Rajeev Ranjan (IAS), Principal Secretary (Revenue); and apprised them about various issues pertaining to NHPC’s under-construction projects including Dulhasti Stage-II HEP, Sawalkote HEP, as well as NHPC’s Power Stations in the UT.
Shri Anish Gouraha, ED (Region-Jammu), Shri Satnam Singh, HoP–Sawalkote HEP, and Shri Shiv Nath Kumar, HoP–Dulhasti Stage-II HEP, accompanied Shri Singh during the meetings. Shri Bhupender Gupta, CMD, NHPC, inaugurated the SAP S/4HANA Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system across NHPC and its Subsidiaries/JVs with effect from 01.09.2026, marking a significant milestone in NHPC’s ongoing digital transformation journey. On the occasion, CMD, NHPC appreciated the concerned Team and all stakeholders across NHPC and its Subsidiaries/JVs for their dedicated efforts towards the successful implementation of the SAP ERP system. He also acknowledged the contribution of Project Management Consultant, M/s Grant Thornton and Implementation Partner, M/s Deloitte, for their technical expertise and support throughout the implementation journey.

Also present on the occasion were Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Projects), Shri Suprakash Adhikari, Director (Technical), Shri Mahesh Kumar Sharma, Director (Finance) and Shri Paresh Ranpara, Director (Personnel), along with other senior officers of NHPC.

With the successful Go-Live of SAP S/4HANA ERP, NHPC has established a unified digital core for seamless integration and standardization of critical business processes across NHPC and its Subsidiaries/JVs. The platform integrates key functions including Project Management, Operations & Plant Maintenance, Procurement, Finance, Human Resources and Employee Self Services, enhancing process efficiency, transparency and real-time access to information. The implementation reinforces NHPC’s commitment to digital transformation, operational excellence and data-driven decision-making, while strengthening process integration and organizational agility. The Go-Live marks a significant step towards building a more integrated, agile and digitally enabled NHPC, supporting efficient business operations and long-term growth. NHPC has achieved it’s highest-ever monthly generation of 4,695.74 MU in August 2026 during FY 2026–27, surpassing its previous record of 4,478.42 MU, achieved in July 2026. Congratulating the entire NHPC family on this achievement, Shri Bhupender Gupta, CMD, NHPC, said, "This achievement reflects the dedication, teamwork and technical excellence of our employees across NHPC's power stations and projects. It reaffirms our commitment to operational excellence, timely project ex*****on, asset reliability and sustainable power generation. I congratulate every member of the NHPC family for this remarkable accomplishment."
The record has been made possible through the commissioning of the 800 MW Parbati-II HE Project, the addition of 1,000 MW capacity at the Subansiri Lower HE Project (750 MW during FY 2025-26 and an additional 250 MW in May 2026) and the successful restoration of the 510 MW Teesta-V Power Station in July 2026 after remaining out of service since the October 2023 flash floods.
With these developments, NHPC's operational installed capacity has increased to 7,651 MW (Hydro: 7,251 MW, Solar: 350 MW, Wind: 50 MW), enabling the Company to maximize clean energy generation during the ongoing high inflow season. This achievement reinforces NHPC's commitment to powering the nation with reliable, renewable and sustainable electricity, contributing significantly to India's energy security and clean energy transition.
