A one-day workshop on CGWA guidelines and procedures was organised by Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), Kadi, on 2 September 2026 at Somany Ceramics Limited, Gujarat. The workshop focused on groundwater extraction regulations, NOC procedures and compliance requirements, with 19 participants from nine industries. CGWA officials delivered lectures and interacted with participants, promoting regulatory awareness and sustainable groundwater management.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee (PSC) on Water Resources successfully completed its Study Visit to Ooty, Tamil Nadu, from 31 August to 1 September 2026, led by Hon’ble Chairman Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy. The two-day programme focused on water resources management, groundwater, irrigation, conservation, and forest-water management in the Nilgiris region, including site visits to Pykara Dam and Mudumalai Tiger Reserve. Representatives from around 18 organisations and departments, including CWC, CGWB, WRD, NRCD, WAPCOS, NPCC and Forest Department, participated.

The project “Generation of Database and Implementation of Web Enabled Water Resources Information System in the Country” short named as India-WRIS WebGIS is a joint venture of the Central Water Commission (CWC), Ministry of Water Resources, Govt. of India and Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Department of Space, Govt. of India. India-WRIS WebGIS aims as a ‘Single Window’ solution for comprehensive, authoritative, and consistent data & information of India’s water resources along with allied natural resources in a standardized national GIS framework (WGS-84 datum and LCC projection) tools to search, access, visualize, understand and analyse the data for assessment, monitoring, planning, development and finally Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM).
