On 6th February 2026, the students of Bharathi Maiyam had the honour of welcoming Mrs. Inthirani, Head Mistress of Veerappan Chatram Girls High School, as the 42nd guest speaker in our flagship initiative, One Guest Speaker a Week.

This weekly programme is designed to broaden the horizons of young learners—especially those from government schools—by connecting them with inspiring individuals whose life journeys offer wisdom, motivation, and practical lessons that go far beyond textbooks. Each session nurtures character, confidence, and clarity of purpose, helping every child who walks into Bharathi Maiyam believe in their own potential.

As part of our commitment to empowerment, Bharathi Maiyam also provides computer education to underprivileged students, giving them access to skills that are essential in today’s digital world. From basic computer literacy to hands‑on training in tools like Microsoft Word, Excel, and internet navigation, we ensure that students gain the confidence to use technology independently. These skills open doors to future opportunities—better academic performance, stronger employability, and the ability to participate fully in a rapidly modernising society. For many of our students, this is their first step toward careers in administration, IT, banking, and countless other fields where digital proficiency is no longer optional but foundational.

During her address, Mrs. Inthirani emphasised the importance of discipline and persistence—qualities that shape both academic success and personal growth. She also presented certificates to 24 students who successfully passed the Microsoft Word exam, a proud milestone in their computer‑learning journey. The event concluded with snacks for all students, adding a touch of joy to a meaningful afternoon.

A beautiful moment unfolded at Bharathi Maiyam today—one that quietly reminds us why our work matters.

A mother from a nearby Government Higher Secondary School walked into our centre with a simple but powerful dream: she wanted her daughter, a 10th‑standard student, to score well in mathematics. Out of the 1250 students studying in that school, she chose Bharathi Maiyam as the place she trusted for her child’s future.

When asked how she heard about us, her answer made our hearts full. She said she had seen the transformation happening in students taught by our mathematics teacher, Mathan sir—a teacher whose dedication speaks louder than any advertisement ever could. His passion for teaching, his patience with every child, and his ability to make mathematics feel like a world of possibilities have quietly built a reputation that travels from classroom to community.

This admission is not just a number. It is a testimony.
A testimony to what one committed teacher can spark.
A testimony to how genuine service creates trust.

We are incredibly proud to have Mathan, a young selfless and inspiring soul, guiding our students into the world of mathematics with confidence and joy. Teachers like him don’t just teach—they change trajectories.

And today, we witnessed that impact walk through our doors in the form of a mother’s hope. We wholeheartedly encourage more individuals to come forward in creating spaces where time, knowledge, and resources are invested not for profit, but for the growth of our society.

When we share what we have—be it our skills, our experience, or our wealth—we don’t just support one child or one family; we strengthen the foundation of an entire generation.

True nation‑building begins when ordinary people choose to give back in as many ways as possible. And every small act of service becomes a ripple that inspires many more to follow.

E.P.B. Nagar Thava Maiyam at Bharathi Maiyam, which began its journey on 06‑01‑2023, joyfully completed three years in 2026. To mark this milestone, a simple and uplifting celebration was held at the Centre.

The programme began with a soulful prayer song by Asst. Prof. Uma Kumaran, setting a serene and devotional atmosphere.
Distinguished professors—Prof. Siddharthan, Prof. Subramanian, Prof. Thatchinmurthy, and Prof. Premavathi—graced the occasion with their presence.

Among them, Prof. Siddharthan delivered an inspiring talk on the Power of Silence, reminding everyone that inner stillness is the foundation of clarity, compassion, and spiritual progress.

During the event, Prof. Premavathi shared the remarkable achievements of the Centre over the past three years:
- 200 men and women have successfully completed the Foundation Course in Yoga.
- 30 participants have received Brahma Gnanam from the Vethathiri Maharishi Institute.
- 20 students completed the one‑year Diploma in Yoga from Jain University and V.M. Institute.
- This year, another 20 students are currently pursuing the one‑year Yoga Diploma from Jain University, Bangalore.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Smt. Uma Kumaran, expressing gratitude to all teachers, volunteers, and students who have contributed to the growth of the Thava Maiyam.
To reflect the spirit of the day, a beautiful thought from Vethathiri Maharishi was shared:

“When the body is disciplined through yoga and the mind is purified through right lifestyle, life becomes a joyful journey of peace and purpose.”

This milestone stands as a reminder that when a community comes together with sincerity and service‑mindedness, transformation naturally follows.

Fulfilling the long‑standing wishes of many children and parents, Bharathi Maiyam is steadily shaping a beautiful playground for our community. In December, Mahendran and I began the first round of cleaning at the L.V.R. Colony site.

During that seva, I happened to meet a member of the Yaan Foundation. When I shared our vision of creating a safe and joyful play space for the children, they immediately resonated with it. True to their word, a team of eight volunteers arrived with tools and cleaned the entire area completely free of cost. They have also kindly agreed to support us again in the future.

As the saying goes, “When you walk one step for others, life walks ten steps with you.”

And another beautiful thought: “Service done with sincerity attracts more hands, more hearts, and more blessings.”

With everyone’s goodwill and collective effort, we have now begun levelling the ground by adding soil, slowly transforming this space into a proper playground that will serve the children for years to come. Still it is a work in progress and will update once as it is getting shaped.

A meaningful tree plantation programme was conducted on the first floor of Bharathi Maiyam on 16th December 2025. Shri K. Annadurai, a dedicated social worker from Thendral Nagar, graciously led the initiative by planting the first set of saplings. His presence inspired students and staff alike to take an active role in nurturing the environment.
As part of the programme, students were encouraged to plant saplings in their homes and care for them regularly. This hands‑on involvement helps young learners understand the importance of environmental responsibility from an early age.
🌿 Why Tree Plantation Matters
Planting trees offers numerous long-term benefits for our community and the planet:
- Improves air quality by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen
- Reduces heat and promotes a cooler, greener environment
- Prevents soil erosion and supports groundwater recharge
- Provides habitat for birds and beneficial insects
- Enhances mental well-being, as green spaces promote calmness and positivity
- Builds environmental awareness among students, encouraging lifelong eco-friendly habits
This initiative not only beautifies our surroundings but also strengthens our collective commitment to a healthier and more sustainable future.
