Lambardars and Chowkidars thanked DC Doda for Sharing Liability Issue with Divisional Commissioner Jammu & Financial Commissioner, Revenue (Addl. Chief Secretary) J&K, Jammu.
Doda: A deputation on 05-02-2026 consisting of JKLCU unit Tehsil Gundna under the leadership of Jammu Kashmir Lamberdars and Chowkidars Union (JKLCU) Chairman Mukesh Parihar Sarazi met the worthy Deputy Commissioner Doda and apprised him about the long-pending issue of non-payment of salaries/honorarium.
It was highlighted that in many Tehsils of District Doda, Lamberdars and Chowkidars are suffering due to the non-release of salaries/honorarium.
Despite the passage of several months, they have not received any remuneration, which has caused severe financial hardship to them and their families.
Due to this prolonged delay, they are facing a serious financial crisis. It has become extremely difficult for them to support their families, as they are fully dependent on their earnings. They have accumulated pending bills, including electricity charges, children’s school fees, and other essential household expenses, which they have been unable to clear because of the non-payment of salaries/honorarium.
The deputation respectfully brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner that several applications regarding this issue had already been submitted earlier, but no concrete action had been taken in this regard.
Taking serious note of the matter, the Deputy Commissioner Doda wrote to the Additional Deputy Commissioner Doda seeking clarification as to why the issue still remains unresolved. Vide No. D9/26/02/178 dated 05-02-2026, directions were issued to all Tehsils of District Doda to submit a detailed report regarding the liability of salaries/honorarium of Lamberdars and Chowkidars within the district.
The deputation expressed hope that the administration would take immediate and necessary steps for the early release of the pending honorarium so that the affected families may get relief from their financial difficulties.
On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Doda, on 20-04-2026, Satender Singh, JKAS, Accounts Officer, DC Office Doda, wrote to the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Financial Commissioner, Revenue (Addl. Chief Secretary) J&K, Jammu regarding the liability of honorarium/remuneration of Lamberdars and Chowkidars. Kindly refer to office letter No. 503/LRA/2026/32-42 dated 17-04-2026. The liability of Lamberdars was reported as Rs 58.63 lakh, while the liability of Chowkidars was reported as Rs 16.09 lakh in District Doda.
Jammu Kashmir Lamberdars and Chowkidars Union (JKLCU) Chairman Mukesh Parihar expressed gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner Doda for taking up the matter seriously and sharing the liability details with the fans Divisional Commissioner Jammu and Financial Commissioner, Revenue (Addl. Chief Secretary) J&K, Jammu. He hoped that the pending liability of Lamberdars and Chowkidars would be released at the earliest so that the affected employees and their families may get relief.
