DC Doda inaugurates Exhibition-Cum-Awareness Camp organized by Handloom & Handicrafts

Handloom and Handicrafts Department, Doda organized One Day Exhibition Cum Awareness Programme at New Community Hall, Bhaderwah in Doda district.

The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Deputy Commissioner, Doda Sh. Harvinder Singh-IAS along with other dignitaries includes ADC Bhaderwah, Col. 4RR Bhaderwah, BDO Bhaderwah, EO MC Bhaderwah and around 150 gathering of weavers and artisans belong to different areas of the district participate in the event. DC Doda inspected the stall of different crafts installed in the venue and appreciated the weavers and artisans community for their creativity and art.

While speaking to the gathering, DC Doda congratulated the department for organizing such a beautiful program and efforts. He appealed weavers and artisans to revive our local rich culture heritage of chenab valley and stressed to promote the local crafts as a profession and avail the benefits of the government schemes.

AD Handloom & Handicrafts, Tarun Sudan-KAS while speaking briefed the gathering about various departmental schemes like Skill development training in Weaving, Cutting/Tailoring, Crewel, Sozni, Phulkari etc meant for unemployed youth with payment of stipend @1000/- per month, Credit Card Scheme with 7% interest subsidy, Pradhan Mantri Weavers Mudra Scheme, Cooperatives , NHDP, Karkhandar.

During the occasion many registered artisans and Weavers with the departments and retired officials were felicitated with momento along with certificates by the guests for commendable work in the different crafts.

In the end, the program successfully ended with a vote of thanks by the AD H&H Doda and refreshments were also made for the participants.

In a short time on the direction of the Assistant Director, Handloom , Doda, an awareness camp today on the 14th November 2024 was organized by Handloom Department, Doda at Malwana area of Gundna Block.

Handloom staff along with locals highlights the various schemes like Kharkhandar, Registeration of Cooperatives with 1 lakh financial support, Credit Card Schems, Mudra Schemes, Education Schems for registered weavers/artisans etc and educate them to established their own units by availing benefits for their livelihood in far flung areas.

Pamphlets, Weavers Registration cards and refreshments were also distributed among the participants.

Awareness Camp organized on 10th National Handloom Day in Doda

To commemorate the 10th National Handloom Day, 2024 and is held every year on 7th of August in the honour of Handloom Weavers and Artisans community and their contribution to the socio-economic and cultural development of the country, Assistant Director, Handloom Development Department, Doda organized an awareness camp at Bhaderwah in Doda district.

The programme was organised under the chairmanship of Assistant Director, Handloom, Doda and under supervision of Er. Abid Wani along with the officials and public belonging to the weavers community participated in the event. While speaking to the participants, Er. Abid Wani congratulated the weavers and artisans on 10th National Handloom and elaborated the aim of this day. He suggested the weavers to improve the quality level of production and revive our rich culture heritage stressed to promote the locals crafts in national and international level. Further participants asked to take up weaving and handmade products as a profession and avail the benefits of the departmental schemes to start-up their own units.

While speaking to the participants, Sh. Abdul Qayoom and Sh. Khaliq Hussain asked to introduce innovative new designs and techniques by participating in training centres run by the department and enhancing the growth of the Handloom sector. They highlighted various departmental schemes like Skill development training in weaving and cutting tailoring trade meant for unemployed youth with payment of stipend @1000/- per month, Credit Card Scheme with 7% interest subsidy, Pradhan Mantri Weavers Mudra Scheme, Cooperatives , NHDP, Karkhandar etc so that they are able to avail the benefits envisaged under these schemes.

At the end of the program, Diploma Certificates were distributed among the ex-trainees for the session 2023-24 and 03 Nos. Of registration of cooperative certificates.
