Dairy farming is emerging as a strong source of livelihood in Doda, with government schemes supporting farmers in boosting milk production and increasing household incomes.

With around 3.24 lakh litres of milk produced daily and 354 dairy units established, 200–250 farmers are benefiting from these initiatives.

Beneficiary Sumair Ishaq Malik set up a four-cow dairy unit under the Integrated Dairy Development Scheme, receiving around ₹2 lakh subsidy along with support for a milking machine, medicines, fodder and veterinary services.

The Animal Husbandry Department has urged farmers and unemployed youth to make the most of Central Government schemes and explore dairy farming opportunities.
