On the occasion of World Environment Day, Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation inaugurated a new public toilet facility at RKB Path near the old Bata premises, further strengthening sanitation infrastructure and public convenience in the city.

The facility was inaugurated by Commissioner Navas Kumar Das, Mayor Dr. Saikat Patra, and Deputy Mayor Ujjal Phukan. Equipped with separate sections for men and women, shower facilities, urinals, and a dedicated breastfeeding room, the centre aims to provide safe, hygienic, and inclusive amenities for all citizens.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation (DMC), in collaboration with Shrishti, organized a Plantation Drive at Red Cross Road, Dibrugarh, reaffirming its commitment towards environmental sustainability and urban greening.

The programme was graced by the presence of Hon’ble Mayor of DMC, Dr. Saikat Patra, Deputy Mayor Ujjal Phukan, Commissioner i/c Navas Kumar Das, and Ward Councillors of Wards 4, 6, 13, 17, 18, and 21.

Representatives from Smile NGO, Dibrugarh, Mr. Sunil Garodia and Mr. Sunil Shobhasaria, also participated in the event. As part of the drive, 10 saplings were planted to enhance the green cover and contribute to a healthier urban environment.

The initiative aimed to promote environmental awareness, strengthen community participation, and inspire citizens to take collective responsibility for creating a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Dibrugarh.

🌍🌿 World Environment Day Celebration 🌿🌍

On the occasion of World Environment Day, Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation (DMC), in collaboration with Shrishti, participated in an Awareness Programme on “Waste Management and Pollution Control” organized by the NSS Cell, Dibrugarh University on 5th June 2026.

Hon’ble Mayor of DMC, Dr. Saikat Patra, delivered an insightful address on sustainable waste management practices and emphasized the significance of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026. He encouraged NSS volunteers to actively contribute towards responsible waste management and environmental protection.

The Shrishti team highlighted the importance of waste segregation at source and explained how proper segregation plays a crucial role in effective waste management and pollution control.

The programme concluded with an environmental oath, where all participants pledged to work collectively towards a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Dibrugarh. The event successfully raised awareness among students about their responsibility in protecting the environment and building a sustainable future.

As part of the World Environment Day celebrations, Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation, in collaboration with Shrishti and Pourosakhi, organized an awareness program on waste management at Ayub Ali Path, Ward 18.

The campaign focused on educating residents about the importance of proper waste segregation at the source. The team demonstrated how household waste should be separated into wet and dry categories to facilitate efficient collection, recycling, and disposal. Participants were informed about the environmental and public health benefits of source segregation and its role in maintaining a cleaner and more sustainable community.

The awareness session also highlighted the practice of home composting as an effective method for managing biodegradable waste. Residents learned simple composting techniques that can be adopted at the household level to convert organic waste into nutrient-rich compost. The initiative emphasized that composting not only reduces the volume of wet waste sent for disposal but also contributes to environmental conservation and sustainable waste management.

The program witnessed active participation from local residents, who engaged with the team and expressed interest in adopting responsible waste management practices. Such initiatives play a vital role in promoting environmental awareness and strengthening community participation in building a cleaner and greener Dibrugarh.

Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation in collaboration with Shrishti and Lions Club of Dibrugarh conducted an “ *Awareness Program on Air Pollution* ” at *Salt Brook Academy* , Ward 3. The team attended the event as resource persons and explained how *burning* of waste causes air pollution and how proper *waste segregation* can reduce the amount of waste left for burning. Students were also guided on *segregation* of waste into *wet, dry* , and *sanitary hazardous* waste categories.

The session further highlighted how *composting* can reduce *wet waste* at source and informed students about the further processing of collected municipal waste. *Awareness pamphlets* were distributed among the students during the program.
A total of *300 students* participated in the awareness program.
