Yet another sad incident... last night there was another death of addict here in Dhasa. his name is Tenzin Losel, 40 years of age from Bylakupee. He was alcoholic and drugs addicts. He move to delhi some times ago. last years he was diagnoses for liver damage and move to Dharashala for treatment in Delek Hospital.. His neighbor has reported to Delek Hospital that he didn't came out of his room from past two days. he was found death on his bed and its believe that he died two days ago.
This is the second death in this month... it is indeed heart breaking to hear such news but at the same time it is motivating us to continue working on the issue. as a society i think we should look into this issue more seriously....

In order to prevent our beneficiaries from relapsing back to addiction and boost their self esteem as being a productive member of the community, we at Kunphen start a workshop for book binding from recycled paper at the beginning of this month. Currently we have employed three labor and an instructor, all are former drugs addict. this production unit is non profit initiative and we are going to use entire income for our beneficiaries.
beside providing them beneficial, safer and proactive environment,with this workshop is we try to create a competitive environment, where their income is strongly define by the units in production.
We uses 100% recycled paper, made from plant fiber, flowers, leaves, and used paper from the local region. All of our products are hand made. The progress is slow, simple, and done with loving care.
All the proceeding goes to treatment(rehabilitation), social reintegeration of drug addicts and awareness on substance dependence and HIV.

Last week there was another death due to drug over dose in Dharamshala. He was from Amdo Naba and he is 26 years old. he came to India at the age of five and he has never seen his family since then. He studied in TCV school and studied thanka Painting from TCV vocational training center pathlikul, in North India. A monk friend of him was telling me he has never spoke to his mother for last four years due to dialect issue(since he could not speak in Amdo dialect ).

On 1st December 2011 in Mcloed ganj, Dharamshala, Kunphen center for substance dependence and HIV/Aids commemorate 23rd world AIDS day. The theme of this years world AIDS is “Getting to Zero – zero new HIV infection, zero discrimination, and zero AIDS related deaths.
According to some AIDS activist and our general assumption, approximately 83,000 Tibetan refugees in India could be categorised as high-risk group for HIV infection due to high mobility, poverty, and lack of access to healthcare facilities. It is very important to such organization like us, Choice and Dept of Health to work together to make this (Getting to Zero – zero new HIV infection, zero discrimination, and zero AIDS related deaths. )a promise kept. Like wise this years world AIDS was commemorated on same platform with own capabilities.

Costa Rica: Ambitious youth HIV project reaping results
José is a young AIDS peer educator in the Costa Rican port city of Limon and he is proud to share HIV prevention messages and tips on how to stay healthy with other young people. “It’s really great to see how at the end of a session the group knows more about HIV. We also have a better idea of how to protect ourselves and deal with our relationships more successfully,” he said.

José is one of more than 80 young peer educators spreading HIV prevention and healthy lifestyle messages in a bold project targeting two of Costa Rica’s key cities.

Cannabis smoking may pose a greater risk of lung cancer than to***co, according to the European Respiratory Journal. Although Cannabis and To***co smoke are similar, Cannabis smoke contains up to twice the concentration of carcinogens. Cannabis smoke deposits into the lower respiratory tract because it is so deeply inhaled and held in the lungs for a longer period of time than to***co smoke. This is why a ma*****na cigarette has 5 times the absorption rate of a to***co cigarette.
