Climate Change Research Institute The CCRI has been founded with a vision to promote environment education, innovations and teachings in the topics related to climate change.

The Climate Change Research Institute is a registered society under Registration Society Act 1860 established with following mission. The climate change has become one of the greatest concerns for the humanity in the current millennium. The ultimate goal of climate change mitigation and sustainable development is to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The CCRI would look for solutions to follow

ing questions: -

How to achieve energy security when climate change is booming large? How to ensure safe water availability for the future generation? How to address climate change impacts on human health? How investment decisions should be made in clean energy technologies? To what extent renewable energy is fulfilling the energy needs of modern society? Will the carbon capture and storage succeed? The Climate Change Research Institute (CCRI) has been founded with a vision to promote environment education, innovations and teachings in the topics related to climate change among the wide strata of society, aiming at sustainable growth. The society would aim to start campaign on National Awareness and Education on Climate and Energy Security (NAECES) to create awareness among different strata of society. It would aim to address as many stakeholders as possible through lectures in schools with researcher and colleges on one hand and discussions and awareness workshops among on the other.

Second Lecture in ‘Climate Change and Net Zero’ Lecture Series on World Earth Day
The Climate Change Research Institute (CCRI) in association with the IICHE, NRC and IIC organized First lecture on National Science Day. Dr. (Mrs) Malti Goel President and Chief Executive, Climate Change Research Institute introduced the theme of the Lecture Series. The CCRI lecture series "Environment and Earth Care" began on 2014 is renamed "Climate Change and Net Zero". It is being held first time to highlight the importance of net zero with a goal of creating awareness about the scientific response to climate change threats facing the humanity. Changing environment and ecology due to climate change are impacting our food security, water supply, agriculture, energy, transportation, Infrastructure, human health, and sustainable growth. The lecture on ‘A Journey towards a Greener Tomorrow’ was delivered by Prof. Anil Verma, Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Delhi on February 28th, 2024 at India International Center, Seminar Hall 1&2, Kamladevi Block, IIC, New Delhi, attended by the students from various schools and colleges in large number. Chief Guest, Prof. D.P. Agrawal, Former Chairman, UPSC, Founder Director IITM, Gwalior, delivered the Inaugural Address. He said we need to make decarbonisation as a mass movement in schools in a step towards net zero. He released Bulletin of Climate SAR, Vol. VIII, No. 1, January 2024 issue having the theme ’Climate Action for Net Zero. Students from Universal Public School, Lal Bahadur Shastri Smarak (JAVM) Sr. Sec. School, St Thomas Girls Sr. Sec School, Mandir Marg, and Birla Vidya Niketan from classes IX and XI. Students and teachers from Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences and Motilal Nehru College, Delhi University also participated. The lecture captivated attendees with insights into the realm of electric vehicles.

First Lecture in ‘Climate Change and Net Zero’ Lecture Series on National Science Day
The Climate Change Research Institute (CCRI) in association with the IICHE, NRC and IIC organized Second lecture on Wold Earth Day having theme as Planet vs Plastics. Dr. (Mrs) Malti Goel President and Chief Executive, Climate Change Research Institute introduced the theme of the Lecture Series on ‘Climate Change and Net Zero’ and the importance of earth day. The lecture on ‘Plastics-A Sustainability Paradox’ was delivered by Mr Swapan Kumar, Secretary, Indian Centre for Plastics in the Environment (ICPE) on April 24th, 2024 at India International Center Annex, Lecture Hall 1, New Delhi, attended by the students from various schools and colleges in large number and other guests. The event began with a Scientific Quiz about Plastic Pollution participated by 37 students. The Quiz comprised of 35 questions in four sections. Chief Guest H.E. Mrs. May-Elin Stener, Ambassador, Royal Norwegian Embassy, graced the occasion. In her inaugural address she said in the context of world earth day theme, Norway’s plastic pollution and circular economy strategies have fruitfully resulted in the India-Norway Marine Pollution Initiative. The CCRI Book on ‘Climate Action and Hydrogen Economy: Technologies shaping the Energy Transition’ was released on this occasion. Certificates were given to all participating school/ college students.

Dr. (Mrs) Malti Goel is former Senior Adviser and Scientist ‘G’, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. She has taken leadership role in promoting scientific solutions for carbon sequestration and is author of several scientific books on environment & energy related topics, publications in peer reviewed journals and book chapters.

CCRI organizes World Earth Day 2022 as a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav on 26th April 2022
The Climate Change Research Institute organizes World Earth Day on the theme “Climate Action” as a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav on 26th April 2022 to celebrate Earth Day 2022 in virtual mode. Mr Neeraj Gupta, Ex-AGM, NPCC Delhi delivered opening remarks on the genesis of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and countrywide campaigns. Dr Malti Goel President, CCRI gave the background and genesis of World Earth Day and its importance in times of climate change emergency. The theme this year is ‘Invest in Our Planet’. She quoted that every day is Earth Day if we start investing in a secure climate future. Mrs Maya Gupa, Director-Principal UPS delivered a special address on India’s cultural strengths in the context of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. In her inspirational address to youth, she told how they can help India to become Atmanirbhar Bharat and a World Superpower. This was followed by the Guest lecture by a young researcher from IIT, Tirupati, Mr Vipin Kumar Sharma, Addl. Supdt. UCIL on ‘Climate Action through CO2 Capture in Nuclear Materials Industry’. Giving insights into world energy growth, and nuclear energy development in India he explained his research on Uranium extraction from the minerals and the importance of carbon capture in the process development. Mr Gupta gave a vote of thanks to all the speakers and participants. Experts in carbon capture research, students from UPS, community members and members of Governing Council and Executive Committee of CCRI, youth were present during the program.
