Welcome to the Sangeet Natak Akademi, the apex body in the field of performing arts in the country, was set up in 1953 for the preservation and promotion of the vast intangible heritage of India’s diverse culture expressed in forms of music, dance and drama. The Chairman of the Akademi is appointed by the President of India for a term of five years. The functions of the Akademi are set down in the

Akademi’s Memorandum of Association, adopted at its registration as a society on 11 September 1961. The registered office of the Akademi is at Rabindra Bhavan, 35 Feroze Shah Road, New Delhi. Sangeet Natak Akademi is an autonomous body of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Besides the constituent units, the Akademi presently has five centres:
1. Kutiyattam Kendra, Thiruvananthapuram for preserving and promoting the age-old Sanskrit theatre of Kerala, Kutiyattam.
2. Sattriya Kendra, Guwahati for promoting the Sattriya traditions of Assam.
3. North-East Centre, Guwahati for preserving the traditional and folk performing art traditions of north-eastern India.
4. North-East Documentation Centre, Agartala for festival and field documentation in the North-east.
5. Chhau Kendra, Chandankiyari for promoting the Chhau Dances of eastern India

The Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards are the highest national recognition conferred on practising artists. The Akademi also confers Fellowships on eminent artists and scholars of music, dance and drama; and has in 2006 instituted annual awards to young artists – the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar. The Akademi’s archive, comprising audio and video tapes, photographs, and films is one of the largest in the country and is extensively drawn upon for research in the performing arts.

माननीय प्रधानमंत्री श्री Narendra Modi के नेतृत्व में भारत आज अपनी विरासत को नई पहचान दे रहा है। 46वीं विश्व धरोहर समिति की मेज़बानी हो, UNESCO द्वारा दीवाली को मिली वैश्विक मान्यता हो, या 127 वर्षों बाद भगवान बुद्ध के पवित्र अवशेषों का स्वदेश लौटना, हर कदम पर भारत की सांस्कृतिक गौरव गाथा और मज़बूत होती जा रही है।

यह सिर्फ एक शुरुआत है, आने वाले समय में भारतीय संस्कृति अपने नवपुनर्जागरण के साथ नई ऊँचाइयों को छुएगी।

विकास भी, विरासत भी।

सीसीआरटी के 47वें स्थापना दिवस के अवसर पर कला, संस्कृति, संगीत और ज्ञान को समर्पित भव्य समारोह आयोजित किया गया जिसमें संस्था की 47 वर्षों की गौरवशाली यात्रा और भारतीय सांस्कृतिक विरासत के संरक्षण और संवर्धन में उसके योगदान को याद किया गया।

इस अवसर पर प्रसिद्ध शिक्षाविद् प्रोफेसर शिशिर वर्मा ने “महान कला और मैं – वैश्विक परिप्रेक्ष्य” विषय पर अपना व्याख्यान दिया। समारोह में पद्म विभूषण स्वर्गीय आशा भोसले जी को समर्पित सीआरपीएफ सेंट्रल ऑर्केस्ट्रा का सिंक्रोनाइज़्ड संगीत एवम सीसीआरटी के कलाकारों द्वारा उत्कृष्ट सांस्कृतिक प्रस्तुतियाँ दी गयीं।

कार्यक्रम में Centre for Cultural Resources and Training - CCRT, New Delhi के अध्यक्ष डॉ. विनोद नारायण इंदुरकर, नवनियुक्त निदेशक श्री पप्पुंजय कुमार सहित अधिकारियों और कर्मचारियों की गरिमामयी उपस्थिति रही।

Shri Vivek Aggarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Culture, chaired a press conference on the 2nd BRICS Culture Working Group Meeting, scheduled to be held in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on 4–5 June. The meeting will bring together delegates from BRICS nations to discuss cooperation in the areas of creative economy, cultural heritage protection, and sustainable development. Alongside the official deliberations, delegates will also experience India’s rich cultural diversity through a specially curated cultural programme.
