Indian Delegation Begins Study Visit to Tajikistan to Strengthen Civilizational Ties

On 5 September 2026, an Indian delegation from the MERI Institute and the India-Central Asia Foundation began a study visit to Tajikistan.
Over the course of three weeks, the delegation will take part in a series of events marking the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s State Independence in Dushanbe and other cities across the country. The programme will also include visits to key historical and cultural sites, tourist destinations, and industrial facilities, providing the delegation with an opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of Tajikistan’s rich heritage and development potential.

5 сентябри соли 2026 сафари омӯзишии ҳайати ҳиндустонӣ аз Институти МЕРИ ва Бунёди Ҳиндустону Осиёи Марказӣ ба Тоҷикистон оғоз гардид.
Ҳайати мазкур тайи се ҳафта дар силсилаи барномаҳои ҷашнӣ ба муносибати 35-солагии Истиқлолияти давлатии Ҷумҳурии Тоҷикистон, дар Душанбе ва дигар шаҳрҳои кишвар ширкат намуда, бо мавзеъҳои муҳимми таърихию фарҳангӣ, сайёҳӣ ва саноатии Тоҷикистон аз наздик шинос хоҳад шуд.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi Discuss Further Strengthening of Bilateral Cooperation

On the sidelines of the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Bishkek, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, H.E. Mr. Emomali Rahmon, held talks with Prime Minister of the Republic of India H.E. Mr. Narendra Modi. The two leaders discussed prospects for further strengthening and expanding practical, mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and India.
The sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects of bilateral relations, with particular emphasis on political dialogue and cooperation in the areas of trade and economy, science and education, culture, and security.
The importance of continuing an active dialogue at the highest and high levels and further promoting the development of intergovernmental relations across a broad range of areas was underscored.

Meeting with Director-General of the International Organizations Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore

On 12 August 2026, H.E. Lukmon Bobokalonzoda, Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Singapore, met with Ms. Ng Boon Yian, Director-General of the International Organizations Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of international organizations, including the United Nations and other international institutions. They also exchanged views on ways to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation in the implementation of the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018–2028.”

Meeting with Head of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore

On 11 August 2026, H.E. Lukmon Bobokalonzoda, Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Singapore, met with Tan Woan, Head of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged constructive views on ways to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation, particularly in the development and implementation of joint programmes.

Congratulatory telegram from United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon

The United Nations Secretary-General, His Excellency Mr. António Guterres sent a congratulatory telegram to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Mr. Emomali Rahmon, which states, in particular:
"Excellency,
I extend my congratulations on the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of the resolution proclaiming the International Decade of Strengthening of Peace for Future Generations (2027–2036). This important achievement reflects the dedication of the Republic of Tajikistan to global peace through multilateralism, dialogue and international cooperation.
At a moment of profound global challenges, this initiative builds on the commitments of the 2024 Summit of the Future and the Pact for the Future in sending a powerful message about the need to invest in peace, prevention and solidarity for the benefit of present and future generations.
I commend the efforts of the Government and people of Tajikistan in resolving conflict with neighbouring states and reaffirm the support of the United Nations to advancing this culture of peace and respect for international law to strengthen cooperation among nations.
Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration."
