A Bogota-MoHUA Knowledge Exchange was hosted at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and facilitated by the WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities.
The former mayor of Bogota, Ms Claudia Lopez shared how the City recognized, reduced, and redistributed the unpaid care burden on its women. The Bogota Care Blocks and the Care School for Men provide exciting ways for urban leaders to promote women’s empowerment.

At the session, the former Secretary of Transport, Mr Filipe Ramarez also shared learnings from Bogota’s experience in 100% electrification of its bus fleet and recruitment of women drivers. He also emphasized the City’s prioritization order for planning streets -
water & biodiversity > pedestrians > cyclists > public transport > mixed-used lanes.
