Environmental sustainability is best cultivated through action rather than awareness alone. With this conviction, GD Goenka School, Mundka organised a Plantation Drive under the theme "Ek Ped School Ke Naam" from July 2 to July 13, 2026, inspiring students to become active participants in building a greener and more sustainable future.
The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across Grades I to VIII, each bringing a designated sapling—**Grade I:** Tulsi, **Grade II:** Money Plant, **Grade III:** Snake Plant, **Grade IV:** Hibiscus, **Grade V:** Marigold, **Grade VI:** Ficus, **Grade VII:** Jasmine, and **Grade VIII:** Bougainvillea. The thoughtful selection of diverse species not only enhanced the ecological richness of the campus but also familiarised students with the environmental significance of different plants.
The plantation process itself became an exercise in experiential learning. Guided by their teachers, students prepared the soil, carefully planted their saplings, watered them, and pledged to nurture them regularly. This simple yet meaningful activity reinforced an essential lesson: planting a tree is not a one-day event but the beginning of a long-term responsibility.
More than a plantation campaign, the initiative served as a practical lesson in environmental ethics. It encouraged students to understand that sustainability is shaped by consistent individual actions rather than occasional symbolic gestures. In caring for their saplings, they experienced first-hand the values of patience, accountability, and stewardship—qualities that are fundamental to responsible citizenship.
Aligned with the vision of "Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment)," the drive reflected the school's commitment to integrating environmental consciousness into everyday learning.
