Gurpreet Sareen’s passion for cricket has been evident since 1990 when he began his journey under the guidance of his first coach, Gurcharan Singh, at the Delhi Blues Cricket Club. His early career was distinguished by four successful years in junior cricket from 1991 to 1994, where he represented Delhi and the North Zone in the Under-16 and Under-19 categories. In 1993, he was a probable for India’s Under-18 tour to South Africa—a testament to his potential and dedication to the sport.
Contributions to Cricket
• Role in DDCA: Gurpreet is an active member of the DDCA League and Tournament Committee, consistently working to elevate the standards of cricket in Delhi.
• Legends League Cricket: As CEO of Konark Suryas (previously Bhilwara Kings) in the Legends League, he has successfully led the team to two finals in three seasons. His roster has included marquee players such as Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, Ross Taylor, Ambati Rayudu, Shane Watson, and Tillakaratne Dilshan.
DDCA Election History

2. Enhanced Member Experience:
• Establish a fine dining restaurant and bar for members to enjoy the best amenities.
• Build squash and badminton courts that meet international standards for diversified sporting engagement.
3. Cricket Heritage and Culture:
• Develop a cricket library as a knowledge hub for players, enthusiasts, and historians.
• Preserve the Willindon Pavilion as a heritage property, establishing a museum to honor cricket’s history in Delhi.
• Open a coffee shop with a view of the ground for a unique spectator experience.
4. Revamp of DDCA League and Schools Cricket:
• Restructure the DDCA League and introduce day matches in schools to enhance young players’ exposure to competitive cricket.
• Launch Girls’ Cricket programs in schools to encourage young female talent.
5. Cutting-Edge Technology and Training:
• Implement Artificial Intelligence in player selection to objectively identify talent across age groups.
• Organize preparation camps two months before BCCI tournaments, ensuring players are well-prepared.
6. State-of-the-Art Infrastructure: Build a modern members’ stand for a premium match-viewing experience, raising DDCA’s standards in spectator comfort.
Personal Life
Gurpreet comes from a legacy of passion for cricket as well as excellence in academia. His grandfather Late Prof. T.S. Grewal was a legend in the field of accountancy and his father was an illustrious Professor in Shaheed Bhagat Singh College. He is a proud father to a 17 year old son. When free from his work in the capital markets, he enjoys working on his own fitness. His dedication to family parallels his commitment to nurturing the cricketing community in Delhi.
