IAC India Against Corruption

IAC India Against Corruption This is the official "India Against Corruption" people's movement FB page. Beware of imposters.

India Against Corruption (IAC) is the present avatar of the 'Hindustan Republican Association', which was founded on 3 October,1924 at 'Kanpur' by 'Sachindra Nath Sanyal' and other freedom fighters but was banned as a terrorist organization by the Government of British India. The India Against Corruption jan andolan (people's movement) was revived twice after India's Independence as a a collective

expression of the people of India fighting against corruption, fed up with misrule and corruption under India's main ruling party, on 17 April 1973 by 'Raj Narain' and again on 26 February 2007 by Sarbajit Roy IAC's current National Convenor. A well timed campaign by the organisers of the present movement supported by numerous activist organisations all working under the banner of "India Against Corruption" brought millions of protestors onto the streets in 2011 using charismatic figureheads, populist slogans and social media. The campaign fanned popular anger against widespread corruption and the illegal system requiring bribes at every level of governance to get things done where democratically elected governments are so beholden to special interests that they can no longer deliver reform. The initial successes of the India Against Corruption campaign were soon lost, hit by a series of high profile scandals and exits of leaders from the campaign, the last announced on 3 August 2012 when the IAC campaign's lead figurehead Arvind Kejriwal (along with his charismatic deputy Anna Hazare) were eased out by IAC's owners the reclusive IAC head quarters (IAC-HQ) or HRA.

Whither "rule of law" in AAP ?

IAC Press release 30-03-2015:

Dear IAC-ians

Although IAC and AAP leadership had variously agreed in various ways not to interfere in each others affairs, the recent unsavory media clashes in AAP are tarnishing IAC's reputation causing us to update our subscribers.

Accordingly, here are our working thoughts on AAP's affairs and considering that we recently met so many former IAC volunteers from all over India who had come to attend AAP's National Council meeting held at a posh farmhouse motel of one of their distinctly 'not aam aadmi' MLAs.

Unlike PB and YY, our own bonafides 'qua' AAP are unimpeachable as we had :-

A) Publicly declared our outrage at Kiran Bedi's CMship and made sure she was defeated,
B) Publicly declared before the voting day our reasons "Why BJP must be defeated tomorrow."

PROS
1) It is clear that at the present time there is pretty much nobody except Arvind as the "face" of the party.
2) That Arvind has shown remarkable good sense in finally expelling certain people who do not conform to the party's Constitutional requirements of upholding the unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty of India. We would not have waited so long or put up with such indiscipline.
3) That Arvind's public statement to implement RTI in the party, if true although many doubt it, is highly welcome and commendable.
4) That AAP's MLA seem to be closing ranks and are not interested in breaking this Govt for now.
5) That AAP is focused on Delhi and is presently avoiding interfering in regional parties / elections of States like Bihar, WB etc which have large, mainly illegal, populations in Delhi.
6) Arvind is paying lip service to development work in Delhi and making it a model city.
7) Arvind has publicly declared he will take on Modi, Vadra and Ambani and all communal forces and also reduce water and electricity bills by half by April. We shall hold him to it and roast him if he runs away as he is prone to doing.

CONS
1) The manner in which these expulsions were done left a lot to be desired.
2) The Party's Constitution was apparently violated at every step and turn.
3) There is a distinct lack of accountability and transparency inside the party, and the parties internal bodies and apparatus are not being put in - or allowed to function.
4) There are some very unsavoury persons now inducted as part of the "win at all costs" strategy thrust upon Arvind by his hidden handlers.
5) The manner in which Arvind declared his vote bank considerations and panders to MLAs in his speech, rather than focusing on governance.
6) The brainwashed personality cultist culture which Arvind proudly promotes internally now enforced by bouncers, and with easy money and easier women now flowing everywhere inside the party.
7) There is thus no place for old-school activists and "Jantar Mantar" idealists in the party. Which may not be such a bad thing if one has to do "governance" and getting on with "development".

Foundation of India Against Corruption movement on 26 February 2007

On 25 February 2007, it was proposed by liberation author and scholar 'Gita Dewan Verma' to Sarbajit Roy that a powerful citizens vigilante body in consonance with HRA's philosophy be immediately formed to pursue corrupt Indian government officers involved in land mafia activity. Her proposal was seconded by several prominent RTI activists like Chaudhuris Rajinder Singh, Indrajit Singh, Hoti Lal, Samay Singh, Ajit Singh, Navin, Badri Prasad, Harpal Singh etc. who were fighting Delhi's powerful land and water mafia.

Sarbajit Roy immediately convened a meeting of HRA, Humjanenge and NCRPI workers at Delhi to form such a vigilante body as a anti-corruption common platform. Notable attendees from Humjanenge and NCPRI movements included Veeresh Malik, Shekhar Singh, Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Ravinder Balwani etc. who agreed that Sarbajit Roy and Veeresh Malik would be Convenor and co-Convenor respectively of this national body of anti-corruption activists under HRA.

The name “India Against Corruption” thus came to be formally adopted on 26 February 2007 outside the Central Information Commission office in the presence of many NCPRI activists after IAC’s convenor Sarbajit Roy proposed it as a tribute to Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan’s pioneering movement. Roy proposed that the permission to use the India Against Corruption brand name for a movement to monitor accounts of Common Wealth Games 2010, already initiated by Veeresh Malik, would be obtained from the “Hindustan Republican Army” (action wing of HRA) who were known to him. Roy had been initiated into activism as a teenager by JP himself at Mumbai when they resided in the same premises.

Origins of India Against Corruption movement

The present IAC (“India Against Corruption”) is an organised synergy of India’s leading anti-corruption and transparency activists, known as Humjanenge, who met up in New Delhi between 13-15 October 2006 for the Central Information Commission's National RTI Convention, and declared on the spot to combat corruption collectively by forging a common platform. The declarants included many eminent transparency activists associated with the National Campaign for Political Reform in India ("NCPRI") which was formed on 15 August 2002 to agitate for implementation of a Supreme Court judgment directing candidates for political office to declare their assets and list the criminal cases pending against them.

India against Corruption should expose farce in public life in the name of Gandhism

To: Shri Hemraj Jain,

It is a complex issue, and we simply don't have the time or desire to
come out in public. People like me and my other core members of IAC
value our privacy and find that we can be much more effective if we
maintain a low profile.

Using the media is a double edged sword. Today everybody in media has
great respect for us, but they are equally bound to report statements
made by other people, like say Ajay Maken or Kumar Vishwaas. IAC does
not care about such people or what they say or what India believes.

How does it concern us if Anna Hazare says he is Gandhian or not ?
Once these Delhi elections are over everybody will forget and move on
to the next tamasha.

IAC does not want to get involved in small time political
controversies. Our agenda is broader and with a longer horizon.

IAC does not disagree that Arvind Kejriwal's LokPal Bill campaign,
using Anna Hazare as a figurehead and with Kiran Bedi as Kejriwal's
junior assistant, was conducted under IAC's banner because the
promoters of IAC paid Kejriwal's NGO - the PCRF - to run an IAC
campaign which later got out of his control.

It is Kejriwal's problem that he later made Kiran Bedi and Prashant
Bhushan non-official trustees of PCRF without telling anybody, and
they thought they had some stake in IAC once Kejriwal abandoned using
IAC's banner..

It is Kejriwal's and Bedi's collective problem that PCRF is now merged
into Aam Aadmi Party and Kiran Bedi is thereby also a member of Aam
Aadmi Party and is liable to be disqualified if she is elected.

If you want to take this further, go to ECI and ask for AAP's audited
accounts showing PCRF funds and the role POLAND plays in all this :-).
