The Manuscript Conservation Center, INTACH Kashmir Chapter, under the Gyan Bharatam Mission, successfully conducted a two week Workshop on Preventive and Curative Conservation of Manuscripts from 4 to 16 May 2026.
The workshop was attended by research scholars of the Persian Department, University of Kashmir, who are associated with the Cluster Centre of Gyan Bharatam, Kashmir. The programme provided hands on training in manuscript documentation, condition assessment, preventive conservation, dry cleaning, tear mending, loss compensation, lining, consolidation, and reinforcement techniques.
Through a combination of demonstrations and practical sessions, participants gained valuable skills in the scientific preservation of manuscript heritage, contributing to the long term safeguarding of Kashmir's rich documentary legacy.
The workshop reflects the continued commitment of the Gyan Bharatam Mission towards building local capacity for the preservation and conservation of India's manuscript heritage.
