Without acknowledging recent criticism faced around the Modi Temple plan, the Bihar government stated that in light of the 2026 Trans Amendment Act, it was disbanding the existing board and working on forming a new one. Rajan Singh who led the temple plan faced strong criticism not only from the LGBTQ+ community but also from the Hindu community that saw this plan as a mockery of Hindu beliefs.

In the largest Big Tech settlement ever, Meta has to pay $17 billion to settle lawsuits involving 48 US states, and territories, over allegations that Facebook and Instagram were deliberately designed to be addictive, knowingly exposed children and teens to serious mental-health harms, improperly collected children’s data, and misleading the public about the risks of its platforms. The settlement roughly amounts to one-third of Meta’s 2025 profit. Multiple former Meta employees had blown the whistle as well as testified against Meta’s repeated decisions to prioritise profit over children’s safety.

It is no surprise that Indian universities are being systematically transformed into controlled environments where independent research is penalized, textbooks are censored, and critical thinking is treated as dissent.

In the last hearing in July, the Court had given the government a “last opportunity” to file its response. Today, the government asked for more time. Sr Adv Saurabh Kirpal told the court, “You can’t simply say that now you can live together but can’t do anything together, that we will recognise your live-in relationship, meaning that we will not put you in jail but you can’t do anything else.” Granting the government an additional month, and responding to the petitioner’s comment that as a society, we must move forward, step by step, the judge said, “when I was a Magistrate, I had handled many Section 377 case. I never convicted anyone.”

A government official said that most of these orders were issued during the students’ protest. One of the posts blocked by this rattled government, was from our account too. Meta, Instagram’s parent company does not provide a copy of the blocking order to understand why the post or account was blocked, nor does the government. The real reason is apparent, though.

The Supreme Court of India is going to hear plea on interim relief related to the PILs filed against the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Act 2026 along with the transfer petitions filed by the Union Government.

Till now only one UT and one State has responded to the notices issued by the apex court on the connected PILs. The Central Government has not filed a response yet.
