H.E PRESIDENT HAKAINDE HICHILEMA TAKES OATH, ASSURES MORE DEVELOPMENT

President Hakainde Hichilema writes...✍️

Fellow citizens,

Today, before Almighty God and the people of Zambia, we humbly took the oath of office to serve our Republic for a second term.

We receive this responsibility with gratitude and a clear understanding that leadership is not a prize, but a sacred duty to serve.

To those who voted for us, we thank you for your trust and confidence. To those who did not vote for us, we respect your democratic choice. We will serve you on an equal basis, without discrimination, because you are our fellow citizens and an equal part of this great Republic.

We are all Zambians, entitled to the same dignity, opportunities and service from our Government.

Our political choices may differ, but our country and our destiny are one. The elections are behind us; the work of building Zambia continues.

Our first term was about restoring stability and laying the foundation. The next chapter is about growing our economy, creating jobs and opportunities, strengthening our communities and ensuring that progress reaches every household.

But Government cannot build Zambia alone. Every citizen has a role. We must work hard and smart, produce more of what we consume, grow what we export, support enterprise and investment, and build a culture of productivity and self-reliance. Zambia must increasingly stand on the strength of its own people and resources.

To our friends and partners across the world, Zambia remains a peaceful, democratic and sovereign nation. A reliable partner committed to stability, trade and investment.

To every Zambian, our pledge is simple. We will serve you. We will listen. We will work. And we will remain focused on delivering a more prosperous, united and resilient Zambia.

With confidence in ourselves and faith in one another, let us get to work.
One Zambia, One Nation, One People.

May Almighty God continue to bless our beloved Motherland.

Hakainde Hichilema
President of the Republic of Zambia

ZAQA ENGAGES INDIA OVER QUALIFICATION VERIFICATION

The Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA) says it will expedite the verification process for Indian qualifications following a series of meetings held with relevant Indian Government institutions last week.

ZAQA has had a backlog of Indian qualifications pending verification for up to five years hence the decision to engage with Indian education authorities in New Delhi to bridge the gap by addressing challenges in the verification process.

Speaking at the conclusion of the engagements, ZAQA Director General Mercy Ngoma said the trip to India was necessitated by the number of pending qualifications, some dating as far back as 2020, which the Authority had failed to verify due to correspondence challenges.

She expressed optimism that the Authority will now be able to verify qualifications from India within the stipulated 60 days following these engagements as Indian authorities have pledged to expedite the communication process with universities once requests are made by ZAQA.

ZAQA is a statutory body under the Ministry of Education, charged with the responsibility of developing and implementing a National Qualifications Framework to ensure that standards and registered qualifications are internationally comparable.

HIGH COMMISSIONER WOES INDIAN INVESTORS

Zambia High Commissioner to India H.E Mr. Percy Chanda has made a clarion call to investors in India to take advantage of the flourishing business environment in Zambia by setting up investments.

Speaking on Friday during the commemoration of Zambia’s 61st Independence Day, Mr. Chanda said Zambia has plenty of opportunities which the Indian business community could explore by expanding their business footprints beyond India.

Mr. Chanda noted that Zambia, rich in untapped natural resources and strategically located, acts as a gateway to eight other African countries, thereby amplifying the potential for business.

He encouraged potential investors to consider Zambia as an investment destination of choice by leveraging its peaceful, investment-friendly stance, and a wealth of raw materials, especially in emerging sectors such as agriculture and manufacturing.

“From the copper mines of the Copperbelt to the majestic landscapes of the Zambezi River, our nation boasts of diverse cultures and languages. It is this diversity that strengthens us, making Zambia a beacon of peace, hope, and harmony in the region and beyond.

“Efforts have been made to promote agriculture, tourism, and manufacturing. Allow me to take this opportunity to invite the Indian business community to visit Zambia and explore the immense potential that Zambia holds for their investments,” Mr. Chanda said.

He noted that Zambia is a beacon of peace with a history of stable democratic governance, with regular elections and a vibrant civil society and that the current Government has made efforts to strengthen democratic institutions and promote political participation.

You will be pleased to note that Zambia has made significant strides in various facets of development over the years. My Government has been working to diversify the economy beyond copper mining, which has traditionally been the backbone of our economy,” he said.
