HECS, in collaboration with INTACH Jhunjhunu Chapter, organised a Teacher Training Workshop at Vivaana Museum Hotel, Nawalgarh, on 20th-21st August, with 25 teachers from 15 schools. Sessions introduced INTACH and India’s natural, built, material and living heritage. Dr. Javed Ali explored Shekhawati’s history, architecture, havelis and fresco traditions. Interactive activities focused on heritage education.

Day two began with a heritage walk through Nawalgarh, covering havelis, temples, museums and historic sites. Sessions covered setting up Heritage Clubs, HECS programmes and heritage conservation. Mr. Atul Khanna discussed adaptive reuse and community participation. Teachers concluded with group activities developing classroom-based projects on Shekhawati’s natural, architectural and cultural heritage.

HECS conducted the Chennai FilmIt India Workshop at KSN Sr. Sec. School, Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai, on 19th August 2026, with 72 students and 12 teachers from 11 schools across the city. The programme began with a prayer song and welcome by the students, followed by an introduction to INTACH, HECS and the FilmIt project by Mr. Abhishek Das.

The students participated in a brainstorming session on the year’s themes and watched two films from the previous year’s FilmIt project. Mr. Ankit Pogula and Ms. Bhamati Sivapalan conducted the technical sessions, introducing students to visual storytelling, camera shots and angles, sound, lighting and filmmaking techniques. Students also practised the concepts through a hands-on activity.
The final session focused on editing, where the resource persons introduced Adobe Premiere Pro and demonstrated storyboarding, trimming and splitting footage, adding titles, credits and background audio. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Abhishek Das and a group photograph with all participants

The FILMIT India Workshop in Mumbai was organised by INTACH’s Heritage Education and Communication Service (HECS) in collaboration with IES College of Architecture on 13th August. The workshop brought together 57 students and 15 teachers from 11 schools. Mrs. Purnima Datt, Principal Director, HECS, introduced INTACH and this year’s FILMIT themes.

Through screenings of student films and the Kaveri film, participants explored storytelling, preparation, shooting, framing, camera angles, sound, and editing. The sessions highlighted the importance of visual planning, storyboarding, shot selection, and clear audio in filmmaking. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks, presentation of books to the IES team, and group photographs.

HECS brings you another Fact of the Week from Goa.

In Rachol village, Salcette, the remains of an old fort still preserve a striking chapter of regional history. Once associated with shifting political alliances in the Deccan and Portuguese expansion in Goa, the fort now survives largely in ruins, while its historic gateway—bearing the arms of the Portuguese monarchy—continues to stand as an important reminder of the past.

Protected today by the Government of Goa, the gateway offers a glimpse into the layered history of Rachol and the many powers that shaped the region over centuries.

Because sometimes, even a single surviving gateway can hold the memory of an entire era.

The FILMIT India Workshop in Goa was organised by INTACH’s Heritage Education and Communication Service (HECS) Division at Sharada Mandir School, Miramar, on 12 August 2026. It brought together 81 students and 16 teachers from 12 schools. Ms Purnima Datt, Principal Director, HECS, introduced INTACH, this year’s FILMIT themes, and Goa Chapter initiatives.

Ms Shikha Gupta from Tuning Fork Films conducted interactive sessions on filmmaking, covering ideation, storytelling, shots, camera angles, sound, music, equipment, and editing using Clipchamp. Students also learnt about uploading films to the FILMIT website. The workshop concluded with an Anti-Plastic film screening, concluding remarks, a vote of thanks, and a group photograph.

The INTACH FilmIt Workshop 2026 was organised at Seth M R Jaipuria School, Babatpur, Varanasi, by HECS in collaboration with the INTACH Varanasi Chapter. The workshop brought together 17 schools from Varanasi and five schools from Ayodhya. Varanasi Convenor Mr. Ashok Kapoor and Co-Convenor Mr. Nirmal Joshi graced the occasion.

The workshop began with a warm welcome, followed by a group song and dance performance by students. Mr. Kapoor welcomed the participants, briefly introduced INTACH, and thanked the host school for its hospitality.

Mr. Abhishek Das introduced the FilmIt Project and its themes, followed by screenings of two films from the previous year, Memory Box and Lothal. Ms. Sasha Singh and Ms. Shikha Gupta then conducted technical sessions covering filmmaking stages, research, storyboarding, framing, editing, transitions, sound, colour correction, subtitles, credits, and exporting using Clipchamp. A sound demonstration and hands-on editing session helped students apply these techniques. Mr. Das also explained the film-uploading process and addressed participants’ queries.

The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Nirmal Joshi, followed by a group photograph.
