Fact of the Week:

Located in the heart of Jaipur, Albert Hall Museum is the oldest museum in Rajasthan and one of India’s most beautiful heritage museums. Built in 1887 in the Indo-Saracenic style, the museum combines Indian, Mughal, and European architectural elements. Its galleries display miniature paintings, royal costumes, carpets, musical instruments, metal objects, pottery, and traditional crafts from across India.

One of its most unique attractions is an actual Egyptian mummy, believed to be over 2,000 years old. Its presence also reminds us that India had ancient trade connections with Egypt through sea routes across the Indian Ocean, where spices, textiles, beads, and luxury goods were exchanged.

HECS INTACH, in collaboration with NCERT and supported by INTACH Varanasi Chapter, successfully conducted a two-day Teacher Training Workshop under NCERT Kaushal Bodh on 6 and 7 May 2026 at Sunbeam School, Lahartara, Varanasi, with participation from 60 teachers representing 31 schools.
Mr. Ashok Kapoor, Convenor INTACH Varanasi Chapter, host school Principal, Mr. Deepak Madhok and Mrs. Bharti Madok Chairman and Vice Chairman of Sunbeam Group of Educational Institution, along with Chapter members also attend the workshop
The workshop featured inspiring sessions on heritage education, art integration, creativity, and curriculum-linked activities by eminent resource persons including Ms. Purnima Datt, Mr. Gunjan Shukla, Mr. Ashok Gupta, Dr. Jyotsna Tiwari, Mr. Sandeep Sethi and Ms. Christina Shangne.

The workshop also included a screening of Kan Kan Mai Ram, introduction to HECS publications and online resources, heritage-based activity design, FILMIT film screenings, and a museum visit to Bharat Kala Bhavan, BHU.

The workshop concluded with group presentations and a felicitation ceremony, encouraging teachers to integrate heritage and creativity into classroom learning.

It explains elephant behaviour, food, diseases, treatments, training, and daily care in great detail. Since elephants were important in ancient Indian society, this text helped people understand how to keep them healthy and protected.

Hastyayurveda highlights the scientific knowledge and compassion present in ancient India and remains an important part of India’s medical and literary heritage today.

HECS, in collaboration with INTACH Jaipur Chapter, successfully organised a two-day Teacher Training Workshop as part of the Kaushal Bodh Guidelines on 27–28 April at The Sanskar School, bringing together social science teachers from 38 schools across Jaipur. The workshop was conducted by Ms. Purnima Datt, Principal Director, HECS, INTACH, along with Ms. Aarushi Rana and Ms. Pranjali Saini, team HECS. It featured sessions by Ms. Madhu Bhatt Tailang on classical music-Dhrupad and heritage conservation, Ms. Leela Bordia on Jaipur’s blue pottery tradition, and a virtual talk by Dr. Jyotsna Tiwari, NCERT, on integrating art and craft into education. On the second day, teachers visited the Albert Hall Museum, developed heritage-based classroom activities, and attended Mr. Sandeep Sethi’s session on My City, My Curriculum: incorporating Jaipur’s heritage in school’s curricula. The event received full support from Ms. Neelam Bhardwaj, Principal, and Ms. Manisha Chandra, Vice Principal, and was graced by Ms. Dharmendar Kanwar, Convenor, and Ms. Chandni Chowdhary, Co-Convenor, INTACH Jaipur Chapter who also gave an introductory session at Albert Hall Museum. The workshop concluded with felicitation and a group photograph.

Heritage Education and Communication Service (HECS) organised a two-day Teachers’ Training Workshop on 20–21 April 2026 at the INTACH Headquarters, attended by 50 teachers from 48 schools across Delhi NCR. Sessions were conducted by Mrs. Purnima Datt, Dr. Swapna Liddle, Dr. Ritu Sethi, Mr. Sandeep Sethi, and Dr. Jyotsna Tiwari, focusing on heritage, crafts, education, and NEP 2020.

Activities included a Conservation Lab visit and a trip to the National Crafts Museum. The workshop concluded with group presentations in the presence of Mr. Ashok Singh Thakur, Mrs. Malvika Pathania, and Mr. Ravindra Singh, followed by certificate distribution.

The Hyderabad FilmIt Festival 2026 was held at the Salar Jung Museum, Hyderabad on 15th April, bringing together 118 participants from 21 schools, including students and teachers. The Festival began with a warm address by the convenor, followed by an introduction to the FilmIt programme and its aim of encouraging students to explore heritage through filmmaking.

Students shared their experiences through speeches, poems, and film screenings, showcasing their creativity and engagement. The Festival concluded with a felicitation ceremony, vote of thanks, and a group photograph, marking a memorable celebration of learning and storytelling.
