Did you know that Mแน›cchakaแนญika, meaning โ€œThe Little Clay Cart,โ€ is one of ancient Indiaโ€™s most famous Sanskrit plays?

Traditionally attributed to King ลšลซdraka, the play is set in the city of Ujjain and tells the story of Cฤrudatta, a kind but poor man, and Vasantasenฤ, a wealthy courtesan. Unlike many ancient plays that focus mainly on kings and gods, Mแน›cchakaแนญika shows everyday life, including merchants, servants, gamblers, artists and ordinary townspeople.

The play is also known for its humour, romance and political drama. It is divided into 10 acts and is an important example of Indiaโ€™s rich tradition of theatre and storytelling.
