𝗛𝗼𝗻’𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗵𝗿𝗶 𝗔𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗵 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗡𝗜𝗗𝗠, 𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲

The National Institute of Disaster Management ( ) had the honour of welcoming Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah on 10th September, 2026. The visit brought together senior leadership and officials associated with disaster management, reflecting the continued importance accorded to strengthening India’s preparedness, capacity and institutional mechanisms for addressing emerging disaster risks.

𝗦𝗵𝗿𝗶 𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗵𝘂𝗽 𝗩𝘆𝗮𝘀, 𝗜𝗔𝗦, 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿, 𝗡𝗜𝗗𝗠, welcomed the 𝗛𝗼𝗻’𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 and highlighted the Institute’s continued efforts towards strengthening training, capacity building, research and knowledge development in the field of disaster management.

The Hon’ble Union Home Minister was accompanied by Shri Govind Mohan, Home Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India; Shri Krishna S. Vatsa, Member & Head, National Disaster Management Authority, India; Shri Anuj Sharma, Additional Secretary (Disaster Management), Ministry of Home Affairs, and distinguished members of the Institute Body including Shri Atish Chandra, Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmer’s Welfare, Government of India; Mr. Naresh Pal Gangwar, Secretary, Dept of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Min of FAHD; Dr. T. Srinivasa Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences Government of India; Shri Nilkanth S. Avhad, Secretary, NDMA; Ms. L. Sweety Changsan, ACS, Assam; Shri Piyush Anand, DG, National Disaster Response Force, India; Dr. Surendra Kumar Bagde, DG, IIPA; Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, DG, India Meteorological Department; Prof. Yogesh Singh, Vice-Chancellor, University of Delhi; Dr. B. During the visit, the Hon’ble Union Home Minister interacted with senior officials and members of the Institute and took note of NIDM’s work in disaster management, training & capacity building. The visit provided valuable guidance and encouragement towards further strengthening NIDM’s contribution to disaster risk reduction, preparedness and supporting the vision of a safer and more disaster-resilient India.

हिन्दी पखवाड़ा–2026 एवं 20वाँ व्यापक आपदा जोखिम प्रबंधन पाठ्यक्रम का उद्घाटन समारोह

राष्ट्रीय आपदा प्रबंधन संस्थान (एनआईडीएम) द्वारा आयोजित हिन्दी पखवाड़ा–2026 (07-21 सितंबर, 2026) एवं 20वाँ व्यापक आपदा जोखिम प्रबंधन पाठ्यक्रम (07-18 सितंबर, 2026) का उद्घाटन समारोह का शुभारंभ दिनाक 07.09.2026 को दिल्ली परिसर में किया गया। इस समारोह का उद्देश्य दैनिक कार्यों में राजभाषा के व्यावहारिक प्रयोग का संकल्प लेना तथा सुरक्षित एवं आपदा-प्रतिरोधी समाज का निर्माण करना है। इस कार्यक्रम में 25 राज्यों/केन्द्रशासित प्रदेशों के प्रतिभागियों, अदिति महाविद्यालय एवं स्वामी श्रद्धानंद महाविद्यालय के संकाय सदस्य एवं छात्र-छात्राओं ने भाग लिया। हिन्दी पखवाड़े के समन्वयकर्ता श्री संतोष कुमार तिवारी, पुस्तकालयाध्यक्ष, एनआईडीएम तथा 20वें व्यापक आपदा जोखिम प्रबंधन पाठ्यक्रम के समन्वयकर्ता डॉ. गरिमा अग्रवाल, वरिष्ठ परामर्शदाता, एनआईडीएम एवं सह-समन्वयकर्ता, प्रोफेसर आमिर अली खान, प्रमुख, आरआईडी, एनआईडीएम हैं। हिन्दी पखवड़ा-2026 एवं 20वें व्यापक आपदा जोखिम प्रबंधन पाठ्यक्रम के उद्घाटन समारोह का मंच संचालन सुश्री नाजिया खान, आईपीआरओ, एनआईडीएम द्वारा किया गया।

🔸 संस्थान के संयुक्त निदेशक, कर्नल विनीत बाँगा ने स्वागत संबोधन के माध्यम से सभी अतिथियों एवं प्रतिभागियों का अभिनंदन किया।

🔸 प्रोफेसर आमिर अली खान ने प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम के विषय की पृष्ठभूमि एवं दो सप्ताह तक चलने वाले गतिविधियों की विस्तृत जानकारी दी।

🔸 कार्यकारी निदेशक, श्री मधुप व्यास (भा.प्र.से.) ने अपने उद्घाटन भाषण में हिन्दी पखवाड़ा के महत्व एवं आपदा के प्रति सशक्त समाज तैयार करने में जन-जागरूकता और क्षमता निर्माण के विशेष भूमिका पर प्रकाश डाला।

🔸 डॉ. सच्चिदानंद जोशी, इंदिरा गांधी राष्ट्रीय कला केन्द्र के सदस्य सचिव, कार्यकारी एवं अकादमिक प्रमुख ने अपने मुख्य संबोधन में राजभाषा की भूमिका, राजभाषा के प्रति सम्मान, प्रतिबद्धता और उसके अधिकाधिक व्यावहारिक प्रयोग पर ज़ोर दिया।

NIDM Southern Campus successfully concluded a 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹-𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 from 31st August to 3rd September, 2026. The programme focused on strengthening capacities for effective post-disaster recovery, reconstruction and risk-informed planning. The workshop brought together officials and professionals from disaster management, revenue, relief, infrastructure, agriculture & other allied sectors. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗦𝗵𝗿𝗶 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗷𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗞𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗿, 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝘁. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿, 𝗡𝗜𝗗𝗠, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼-𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗦𝗵𝗿𝗶 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗷𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗵, 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝘁. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿, 𝗡𝗜𝗗𝗠 & 𝗦𝗵𝗿𝗶 𝗥𝗼𝗵𝗶𝘁 𝗞𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗿, 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝘁. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿, 𝗡𝗜𝗗𝗠.

The inaugural session was graced by 𝗦𝗵𝗿𝗶 𝗥𝗼𝗵𝗶𝘁 𝗞𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗿 who delivered the Welcome Address, while 𝗦𝗵𝗿𝗶 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗷𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗞𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗿 provided the Programme Overview and set the context. In his Inaugural Address, 𝗖𝗼𝗹. 𝗣. 𝗦. 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝗱𝘆, 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿, 𝗡𝗜𝗗𝗠, highlighted the importance of strengthening institutional preparedness, coordination and risk-informed approaches for effective post-disaster recovery and reconstruction. During his Special Address 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗻𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗞𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗿, 𝗛𝗼𝗗, 𝗚𝗠𝗥𝗗, 𝗡𝗜𝗗𝗠 emphasised the need for a comprehensive and resilient approach to long-term recovery, reconstruction and disaster risk reduction.

The National Institute of Disaster Management ( ) organised the 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 & 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 on 3rd September, 2026 at Delhi Campus. The workshop aimed to strengthen understanding of industrial disaster risk reduction, preparedness, risk governance and effective incident response. The workshop brought together 26 participants from 9 States/UTs representing industry, PSUs, emergency response agencies, government institutions and academia. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗗𝗿. 𝗞𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗮, 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿 & 𝗛𝗼𝗗, 𝗖𝗕𝗥𝗡 & 𝗖𝗥𝗠𝗗, 𝗡𝗜𝗗𝗠.

The Inaugural Session was graced by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗞𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗮, who provided the context and highlighted the objectives of the workshop. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗔𝗺𝗶𝗿 𝗔𝗹𝗶 𝗞𝗵𝗮𝗻, 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱, 𝗥𝗜 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗡𝗜𝗗𝗠, emphasised the importance of industries in national development and the need for strengthened industrial disaster risk governance. 𝗦𝗵𝗿𝗶 𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗵𝘂𝗽 𝗩𝘆𝗮𝘀, 𝗜𝗔𝗦, 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿, 𝗡𝗜𝗗𝗠, highlighted the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047 and the importance of strengthening disaster management systems, drawing attention to major industrial disasters and the Disaster Management (Amendment) Act, 2025.

NIDM successfully concluded the 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲-𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗠𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, held from 31 August–2 September, 2026 at Delhi Campus. The programme aimed to strengthen inter-agency coordination, operational preparedness and unified disaster response among government departments and emergency response agencies. The Programme brought together 45 participants from various line departments of the Government of Andhra Pradesh. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗗𝗿. 𝗚. 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗮, 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿, 𝗡𝗜𝗗𝗠 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼-𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗻𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗞𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗿, 𝗛𝗼𝗗, 𝗚𝗠𝗥𝗗, 𝗡𝗜𝗗𝗠.

The Inaugural Session commenced with a Programme Overview by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗚. 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗮, outlining the objectives and key themes of the programme. 𝗖𝗼𝗹. 𝗣. 𝗦. 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝗱𝘆, 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿, 𝗡𝗜𝗗𝗠 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀, emphasised the importance of inter-agency coordination and operational preparedness. 𝗦𝗵𝗿𝗶 𝗗. 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 (𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹) 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲

NIDM organised a 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 (𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹) 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲 from 27th–29th August, 2026 at Delhi Campus. The programme focused on strengthening understanding of chemical disaster risks, preparedness, emergency planning, response mechanisms and multi-stakeholder coordination. It was attended by industry safety managers, emergency responders, health professionals, police officers, environmental regulators and academicians. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗗𝗿. 𝗔𝗿𝗸𝗮𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗵𝗮 𝗦𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗮𝗿, 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝘁. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿, 𝗡𝗜𝗗𝗠, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼-𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗗𝗿. 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶 𝗦𝗼𝗻𝗶, 𝗦𝗿. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁, 𝗡𝗜𝗗𝗠.

The inaugural session was graced by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗔𝗿𝗸𝗮𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗵𝗮 𝗦𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗮𝗿, who set the context by highlighting the relevance and objectives of the programme; 𝗖𝗼𝗹. 𝗩𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮, 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿, 𝗡𝗜𝗗𝗠, delivered the Welcome Address and emphasised the importance of strengthening preparedness for industrial chemical disasters; and in his Keynote Address, 𝗦𝗵𝗿𝗶 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗞𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗿 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗮, 𝗦𝗿. 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿, 𝗡𝗜𝗗𝗠, highlighted the need for coordinated and effective disaster management efforts.
