Ambassadors/Heads of Diplomatic Mission of European Union Member States resident in Kathmandu and New Delhi, as well as Ambassadors of some other countries resident in Kathmandu paid a joint courtesy call on Rt. Hon. Mr B***ndra Shah, Prime Minister of Nepal, at his Office in Singhadurbar today.

Ambassadors/Heads of Mission of the United Arab Emirates, European Union, Finland, Norway, Myanmar, Australia, Russian Federation, Thailand, Sweden, Belgium, Portugal, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Estonia, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Greece, Denmark, Romania, Slovenia, Luxembourg, Austria, Slovakia, Brazil, Malaysia, Poland and Czech Republic were present for the call on.

The Ambassadors/Heads of Mission congratulated the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister and conveyed greetings and messages from their respective Heads of State/Government. They highlighted major areas of cooperation and expressed support and cooperation to the new Government in delivering results for the benefit of Nepali people.

Reiterating Nepal's balanced and pragmatic foreign policy, the Prime Minister underscored that Nepal's engagement with its neighbours, development partners and friendly countries is guided by the principles of mutual respect, sovereign equality and shared prosperity. He appreciated the continued goodwill and support extended to Nepal's development efforts and hoped for an enhanced level of cooperation in the days to come.

Highlighting the Government's resolve to ensure good governance and achieve inclusive economic prosperity, the Prime Minister stressed on benefiting from global markets, attracting greater investment through streamlined procedures, encouraging innovation and achieving sustainable development. He expressed the Government's eagerness to deepen partnership across key sectors, including trade, investment, green energy, climate action and tourism.

Foreign Minister Hon. Mr Shisir Khanal, Political Advisor to the Prime Minister Mr Asim Shah, Chief Secretary Mr Suman Raj Aryal, Foreign Secretary Mr Amrit Bahadur Rai and other senior Government officials were present on the occasion.

Celebrou-se, no passado dia 9 de maio, o Dia da Europa! 🇪🇺

A data assinala o 76.º aniversário da assinatura da Declaração Schuman, em 1950, marco fundador do projeto europeu.

Neste dia, a Embaixada de Portugal em Nova Deli associou-se às celebrações promovidas pela Delegação da União Europeia na Índia, que reuniram representantes dos 27 Estados-Membros da UE.

Para além de constituir um momento de celebração dos valores fundadores da União Europeia, o evento contou com a presença de Nirmala Sitharaman, Ministra das Finanças e dos Assuntos Corporativos da Índia, assinalando o espírito de cooperação e parceria que caracteriza a relação entre a UE e a Índia.

Europe Day was celebrated on 9 May! 🇪🇺

The date marks the 76th anniversary of the signing of the Schuman Declaration in 1950, a founding milestone of the European project.

On this day, the Portuguese Embassy in New Delhi joined the celebrations hosted by the Delegation of the European Union to India, which brought together representatives from the 27 EU Member States.

On top of an occasion to celebrate the founding values of the European Union, the event was attended by Nirmala Sitharaman, India’s Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, highlighting the spirit of cooperation and partnership which characterises the relationship between the EU and India.
