The Central Executive Committee of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) strongly condemns the brutal attack on Comrade Rahul Kirad, Treasurer of the DYFI Delhi State Committee, by a large group allegedly associated with the RSS-Bajrang Dal.

Comrade Rahul Kirad had consistently raised his voice in defence of reservation, social justice and democratic rights. He has also played an active role in struggles concerning the condition of government schools and the lack of basic facilities. His courageous interventions had reportedly drawn the ire of RSS-BJP leaders in the area.

The violent attack and the attempt to terrorise his family constitute a serious assault on democratic rights. An attempt to silence a progressive young voice through violence, threats and intimidation is not merely an attack on one individual, it is an attack on every progressive youth who raises their voice for social justice and equality.

The Central Executive Committee of DYFI expresses serious concern over the failure of the authorities to prevent such violence and ensure the safety of Comrade Rahul Kirad and his family. The leadership of DYFI is currently present at the Sagarpur Police Station, demanding immediate and strict action against all those who unleashed this violence.

The DYFI Central Executive Committee demands:

1. Immediate and adequate security for Comrade Rahul Kirad and his family.
2. The immediate identification of all those involved in the attack and the registration of strict criminal cases against them.
3. Prompt and stringent action against all those responsible for threatening and attacking progressive youth and activists raising their voices for social justice and democratic rights.

The DYFI Central Executive Committee stands firmly with Comrade Rahul Kirad, his family and DYFI Delhi. Violence and intimidation cannot silence progressive voices or suppress the struggle for social justice.

The struggle will continue.

To stop the August 10 Jail Bharo movement, the police have detained Comrade Gulab Chand, DYFI Uttar Pradesh State Secretary.
We like this fear.
Your repression cannot stop the youth. It only shows how afraid you are of our growing movement.
We will not be intimidated. We will fight back.

The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) extends its full solidarity to the nationwide Jail Bharo Movement on 10 August 2026, jointly called by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) and the Central Trade Unions (CTUs). DYFI will actively participate in and extend organisational support to the movement across the country.

The 10 August mobilisation, taking place on the anniversary of the historic Quit India Movement, is a powerful assertion of the collective strength of farmers, workers and all sections fighting against policies that undermine their livelihoods and rights. The growing assault on workers' rights, farmers' interests and public assets demands a united and determined resistance.

The movement raises crucial demands including a statutory guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) based on the Swaminathan Commission's C2+50% formula, repeal of the four anti-worker labour codes, opposition to the sale and privatisation of public sector assets, withdrawal of electricity privatisation measures, farm loan relief, protection of tribal and land rights, job security and comprehensive social security for unorganised workers, along with strengthening rural employment programmes.

These are not merely sectional demands. They concern the future of India's youth, the security of employment, access to public services, the livelihood of rural communities and the protection of the country's productive and public assets. The relentless promotion of privatisation, contractualisation and the weakening of labour protections has particularly serious consequences for young people entering an increasingly precarious employment market.

DYFI will actively participate in the 10 August Jail Bharo Movement and mobilise the youth in support of the united struggle of workers and farmers. The youth of the country cannot remain spectators while their employment opportunities, social security and public institutions are systematically undermined. We call upon young people across the country to join this historic mobilisation and strengthen the united resistance against anti-people policies.
