# Gunvatta Yatra – Nagpur | Strengthening Awareness on Accreditation
QCI-NABET successfully conducted the Gunvatta Yatra Programme in Nagpur, aimed at enhancing awareness about accreditation schemes among consultancy organizations.
The programme focused on familiarizing Environmental Impact Assessment Consultant Organizations (EIA), Exploration Agencies in Mineral Sector (AEA), Prospecting Agencies and Mine Plan Preparing Agencies in Coal Sector (APA-MPPA), and Ground Water Consultant Organizations (GWCO) with the accreditation requirements and processes. A total of 34 participants from across India attended the programme. The session helped prospective consultant organizations gain better clarity on accreditation schemes and preparedness requirements.

NABET is conducting Assessor Training Programme for the EIA Scheme on 13–14 March 2026, bringing together 30+ prospective assessors from leading universities and industry with diverse domain expertise.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Sh. Jagminder Kataria (Joint Director), followed by opening remarks from the Prof. (Dr.) Varinder S Kanwar (CEO-NABET), who highlighted the critical role and responsibilities of assessors in maintaining the credibility of the accreditation process, while emphasizing the importance of ethical practices, transparency, and professional integrity.
The training sessions were conducted by Sh. N. K. Kuttiappan and Dr. V.M. Shastri (NABET Assessor), who delivered detailed requirements of the scheme requirements, assessment methodology, and key processes under the EIA Consultant Accreditation framework.

The programme served as an important step towards strengthening the assessor pool and enhancing the quality and consistency of assessments under the NABET EIA Scheme.

The Quality Council of India had the honour of meeting Shri Sunil Kumar (Former IPS), Hon’ble Minister of Education, Bihar, along with senior officials from the Education Department, Government of Bihar.

The discussions focused on QCI’s role as a knowledge, quality assurance, and strategy partner in strengthening education systems through process-driven governance and outcome-oriented frameworks.

There was a shared commitment to leveraging accreditation, institutional standards, and capacity-building to improve learning outcomes and support implementation at scale.

QCI-NABET conducted its 7th three-day Capacity Building Workshop at National Environmental Engineering Research Institute, Nagpur from 25–27 February 2026 to strengthen the capacity of EIA consultants in preparing high-quality EIA reports. The programme covered the following functional areas: EB, SE, RH, and LU under the EIA Scheme, along with QMS, EMP development, and sessions on criteria for quality EIA reports, including case study-based group activities.
The inaugural session was graced by Dr. R. B. Lal (Scientist F & Director, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change), Dr. S. Venkata Mohan (Director-NEERI, Nagpur), and Shri N. K. Kuttiappan (NABET Assessor).
With 44+ participants, including EIA coordinators and functional area experts, the workshop featured experienced faculty and interactive discussions. QCI-NABET was represented by Dr. Yati Kachhawa Ms. Shivani Mishra and Ms. Manila Talwar

Shri Chakravarthy T. Kannan, Secretary General, Quality Council of India, delivered the welcome address at the Stakeholders Interaction at 1QCI, World Trade Center.

He highlighted QCI’s efforts towards building a robust, globally aligned quality and accreditation infrastructure across sectors in Bharat. He also emphasised the need to address real on-ground challenges, strengthen systems at the source, and align industry practices with global benchmarks.

He underlined that such collaborative platforms are essential to bring together industry, institutions, and government to drive actionable outcomes and strengthen Bharat’s manufacturing competitiveness.

National Accreditation Board for Education and Training (NABET) is one of the statutory board of Quality Council of India (QCI). QCI is an autonomous body under DIPP, Ministry of Commerce & Industry Govt. of India mandated for accreditation of Education/ Training institutions and personal certifications.

NABET has 5 divisions namely as: Accreditation Division (AD), Formal Education Excellence Division (FEED), Environment Impact Assessment (EIA), LEAN Manufacturing and Skill Training & Certification (STC).
