SRC Uttarakhand SRC Uttarakhand is providing technical & academic resource support in Uttarakhand to implement the Saakshar Bharat Programme.

The National Literacy Mission (Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India) established the State Resource Centre for Adult Education for Uttarakhand in March 2000 under the aegis of Rural Litigation & Entitlement Kendra, Dehradun. The State of Uttaranchal came into being in November 2000 after carving out the Garhwal and Kumaon Divisions of erstwhile Uttar Pradesh. Due to the geog

raphical conditions in Uttarakhand, the Adult Literacy Programme under the National Literacy Mission had suffered. To give momentum to the effort, the National Literacy Mission (NLM), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India recognized and acknowledged the success of RLEK’s Van Gujjar’s education programme and nominated RLEK to run a State Resource Centre for Adult Education in Uttarakhand. The State Resource centre has been registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 and its affairs are being looked after by a governing body duly constituted as per the norms of Government of India. The proximity of the SRC to the districts of the region has facilitated in effective and efficient implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the programmes. The Management of SRC is vested with a Governing Body consisting members from Central, State Government, Academic Institutes, Universities, and NGOs. SRC Dehradun holds to its credit the successful development of area -based and need-based teaching-learning material. The centre has been striving its best to evolve a plethora of books and materials covering a wide range of issues and subjects. In particular, marginalized communities, Panchayti raj functionaries and hilly people.As an acknowledgment of the outstanding work being done, SRC Uttrakhand was upgraded from B grade to 'A' grade in the year 2007, in a short span of just 7 years after being formed.
