Two robins, one common confusion!
At first glance, the Oriental Magpie Robin and Indian Robin may look similar, but a closer look reveals some fascinating differences.
The Oriental Magpie Robin stands out with its glossy black-and-white body and proudly upright tail. It’s also famous for its beautiful melodious songs, often heard in gardens and parks.
Meanwhile, the Indian Robin has a darker body with a striking chestnut patch under its tail, making it easier to identify once you know what to look for.
Fun fact: Female robins of both species look very different from the males, making bird identification even more interesting! 🪶
Next time you spot a small bird nearby, take a second look… you might finally know which robin you’re seeing.
