Saddened by the passing of Dr. Narana Sinai Coissoró, eminent Goan-origin Portuguese statesman, in Lisbon at 94. First elected to the Portuguese Parliament in 1976, he served eight terms and was Deputy Speaker (1999–2005).

A proud son of Goa who embodied the Indo-Portuguese bond.

Deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Narana Sinai Coissoró, the eminent Goan-origin Portuguese statesman, in Lisbon on Saturday at the age of 94.

A proud son of Goa who carried our roots to the highest offices of Portugal, Dr. Coissoró was first elected to the Portuguese Parliament in June 1976 and went on to serve an extraordinary eight terms, later serving as Deputy Speaker of the Portuguese Parliament from 1995 to 2005.

His life stands as a testament to the enduring Indo-Portuguese bond and the distinguished contribution of the Goan diaspora to public life. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and all who mourn this loss.
