National Snakebite Initiative தேசிய பாம்புகடி அமைப்பு NATIONAL SNAKEBITE INITIATIVE - India’s foremost nonprofit UN-Habitat Recognition (IYF National Award) Winning program.

Working in the Frontline at the Base taking real impactfull solution. GENESIS of NATIONAL SNAKEBITE INITIATIVE
The GREEN CROSS INDIA Wildlife Eco Division of JKT is which is one of the most coveted divisions which have adopted good standards and practices and are accountable and transparency in our Operations; GCI is a unique movement defending the wildlife, Environment, Renewable Energy & Sus

tainable Agriculture through Conservation Education & Research in every new field activity after keen study have adopted good standards and practices from all reliable resources
With an intention to sustain & develop our services we adopted good practices Our Rescue Services started in 2006 later got upgraded to address
Rural Snake Safety Campaigns along with Human Wildlife Conflict issues in 2008 and i

BIRTH of NSI 2010 after the training protocols Provided by Dr. Bryan Grieg Fry Australia in a NATGEO filming along with Leading Herpetologist Mr.Gerry Martin, in Romulus Whitaker’s Agumbe Rain Forest Research Station (ARRS). Despite being a remote non Profit we carried out the Conflict resolution Services just with diminutive knowledge & no external supports which may have lacked international equipments & protocols, yet our services were commendable & dedicative. Once we were skilled to improve our snake handling & rescuing Practices by the Guidance of In that course we found that the unaddressed plague was wide spread & yet the information & skill to resolve the same being very feeble at every level when compared to the problem. with just a single desperate & dedicated Team we found unachievable to cover up the wide spread negligence Ignorance & outbreak, hence we had to redesign our approaches & Standards which in turn led to the origin of Rural Snake Safety Campaigns in 2008 again while standardizing the protocols of diminutive effort & adopting International policies it led to the beginning of National Snakebite initiative the India’s Foremost Snakebite initiative. Alleviating Rural Envenomation Crisis :- About 25,000 to 50,000 people die of Snakebite in India every year, mostly in Rural India; yet there is no other organized effort similar to GCI & NSI to cope with the emergencies arising out of snakebite, especially in developing India

Total ignorance prevails about snakes and snakebite in India and since lack of improved medicine and medical care & of the occurrence of deep-rooted superstitions many lives are lost (killed) rate of casualties is increasing high,
Most of the victims are deprived farmers & rural people where no medical and treatment facilities available for snake bite.
