Mindfulness with respect to Body Safety. There is nothing like Good Touch and Bad Touch. Children need to understand the touch is either safe or unsafe! They can feel confused and uncomfortable even with a known person's touch. This week was an exercise based information to understand the touches and how to communicate to their trusted adult.

Well-being is the topic for the month, and we started our sessions on understanding what Mindfulness is and its benefit.
Primary students started the session with understanding the concept and benefits.
Weekly sessions which extensively teach concepts, techniques, benefits , positive affirmations and overall well-being are initiated by HUS and PEACE.

15/07/2024 PEACE ( Parents Ensuring A Child safe Environment) conducted an immersive workshop in HUS for faculties of different learning programs of IB curriculum - ELP/ PYP/ MYP/ DP.
The purpose of this workshop was to enable this diverse group of educators debunk the myths and elevate their role in stemming the societal plague of Child Sexual Abuse (CSA). The right communication, empathy and triggers were deliberated upon through a combination of discussion and storytelling to facilitate the right thinking and actions, in order to handle CSA cases in keeping with POCSO laws & amendments within the parlance of a school. The essence of the program was to foster a space and mindset that ensures greater safety for our children, as we continue on our endeavor to provide the best in class international learning experiences for our students.
It is never the victim's fault but the perpetrator was the essence that was taken from the session. Highly interactive and well taken session by HUS- Hiranandani International School.

Very few schools have given us the opportunity to talk to students and have a workshop with high school. Grade 9-12 is always busy to finish their academic commitments and portions. Would all of this be done without understanding their mental health and doubts with respect to s*xual Abuse, curiosity to understand different views on the subject of s*x, understanding POCSO and their guidelines for young adults. So glad that HUS, Chennai gave us a platform to work and talk with them. A chance to understand their point of view and let them speak freely to be heard without any inhibition and judgements.
PEACE - Parents Ensuring A Child-safe Environment was pleasantly surprised how clear the students were to express their thoughts and understand how society is blaming the victim rather than the predator due to our mindset!
It's a proud feeling to see that our youth is going in the right direction!

Middle School not only brings in teen trauma, adolescent issues,puberty and anxiety on body changes, it brings in confused state for Children, Teachers and Parents to handle these problems. PEACE - Parents Ensuring A Child-safe Environment conducts their specialised workshops in tackling and talking about topics like Bullying, Peer Pressure, Body Shaming and Body safety towards s*xual abuse in an interactive and friendly way. Once children sensitise themselves towards positive affirmations and positive peer pressure they relate and empathise on body changes in a better way.
Hiranandani Upscale Chennai started their MYP workshops on a very positive note with full enthusiasm. Stay tuned for more!

World Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse - 19th November.
PEACE - Parents Ensuring A Child-safe Environment has tirelessly worked to create awareness against Child Sexual Abuse and leading a campaign to be the change. Effective Communication, Taking the shame away from the Victim and understanding POCSO has been the basis of our workshop modules. We feel encouraged and motivated with the positive responses we have recieved from schools and parents towards our efforts.

The victim's stepfather and stepmother were among those sentenced to life in prison.

PEACE conducted workshops last week for Primary section(PYP1-Pyp3) for an international school in Chennai. The students were taught about the concepts of "Personal Space", "Trusted Adults", Kinds of Touches, Importance of Body Parts in a fun and interactive way. They were introduced to the Child helpline through an audiovisual and other activities including a skit showcased by our volunteers. We were very happy to see children understanding these and feeling empowered. Let's be the change is the vision for PEACE and we are happy that schools like is taking steps towards the cause and creating Awareness against Child Sexual Abuse.
