Embracing Work with Dignity, Every Day
Skills are like seeds. When nurtured with care, they grow into confidence, opportunity and independence.
At Prayatna, Sri Arunodayam’s vocational training initiative, young adults with intellectual disabilities learn meaningful trades through hands-on experience in tailoring, dairy farming and sustainable agriculture.
They learn to cut, stitch and finish products. They care for animals with empathy and responsibility. They work with the earth, understanding that growth requires patience and perseverance.
But the transformation goes far beyond vocational skills.
With encouragement, structured guidance and a focus on ability rather than disability, our trainees build discipline, self-worth and a stronger sense of belonging. They take on large orders, participate in product stalls, manage their earnings through individual bank accounts and begin imagining independent futures of their own.
Since 2012, Prayatna has been creating pathways to dignity—one skill, one milestone and one good effort at a time.
Because when opportunity is matched with determination, lives can take a new direction.
