Villivakkam

Villivakkam ♥ VILLIVAKKAM ♥ undoubted paradise! Villivakkam (Tamil: வில்லிவாக்கம்) is a neighbourhood located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Sec. School
I.C.F. silver jubilee Mat. Hr.

It is a residential area known for famous temples. Situated between the industrial estates of Ambattur, Padi, ICF, Perambur Locoworks , this place is populated mostly by the working class people of Chennai (especially people working in manufacturing). According to legend, two demons, 'Ilvalan' and 'Vatapi', who were born to Sage Dhurva and Aswamukhi, tortured the entire world and killed many innoc

ent people. One of the demons used to take the shape of a fruit and the other used to offer it to some innocent passer-by and after he consumed it, the demon would come out by tearing his stomach. It was left to Sage Agasthya to kill these demons with his mystic powers. It was here that the slaying of the demons took place and as a result the place came to be known as Konnur in times of yore.[1]
It got the name of Villivakkam much later which has its own bearing - that Sage Agasthya planted a "Vilvam" plant (which has got medicinal and spiritual healing power) and hence the name. The Shiva temple in Villivakkam has a very old Vilvam tree which the priests consider sacred and use its leaves for the daily puja. Road
Villivakkam has a bus terminus which is located off Konnur High Road. Jawaharlal Nehru Road and Konnur High Road are the arterial roads encompassing Villivakkam. While the government is trying its best to make vaccines available to us at the nearest possible location by different intiatives (ads for awareness/creating dedicated portal/WhatsApp number /call in number) to book slots or walk-in as per our convenience, people who are at the level of distributing it to citizen are being such pain and unproffessional, bringing bad name to the authorities as well as governing bodies.

Here is my experience !!

Yesterday I got my slot for 2nd dose of vaccination near my home. (PHC - Rajamangalam 1st main road, Villivakkam).

When I reached only two ladies were sitting and asked me "what do you want?".
Me - "I got the slot for 2nd dose today and this is my vaccination center as per sms notification"
They both told me to come on Sunday (19-09-2021). It seems they can't open a vial unless there are 10 people available to get vaccinated, probably to avoid wastage I guess and it totally makes sense.
Anyways I have my priorities so I told -"Because of my personal commitments I had to book slot today and I need to be vaccinated, I have other commitments on Sunday."
While this was happening another person came by for his vaccination. Then one of the ladies( a young nurse) said "Why are all coming during working days. We have weekend vaccination drives, why can't you visit on weekends for vaccination". She was not only being irresponsible, she was rude and impolite. As we were talking more people came by for their vaccination. I told her " We have booked our slots based on our priorities and got in confirmed as well. This was the centre as per my slot. Also if you need minumum of 10 people to open a vial for vaccination you can ask us to wait till the count reaches 10. If the person is not willing to wait they have the choice to leave. If you don't have dose we can understand, But on a broad day when people are coming to get vaccinated and there is enough dose for us, as well as you are not overwhelm with work, what is the concern in administering the doses? If you had to show the count for mega vaccination drive, you should have closed/blocked this centre saying we don't provide vaccination on weekdays. More over pushing the crowd to gather on Sunday for recording higher count on Mega Vaccination drive would only increase the risk of spreading infection".
Anyway the lady was in no mood to listen to us and I immediately contacted the toll free number (Corona care center - +91 44 4612 2300) Greater Chennai Corporation. After 10mins this lady called me inside and suggested me to go to another place to get vaccinated which is 1.5km far from this PHC!!!

Later I got my vaccination at 11.50am in another center E-Sevai Miyam Ward No 94. Almost 2 hours to get the clarity on where I get my vaccination. But here we have to think about why these staffs in PHC/UPHC are not considering the work as a service. I'm not saying all the staff, few of them are like this. The sad is public are accepting this kind of acts. We(public) know the fact only when a person raise the hand and at the moment they realize what it is, but still we will not support him. We simply stay back and watch the entire drama. Once everything resolved and the benefit what we expected without any shame we(public) will be the first person to take the benefits. Too worst!!

Not sure if this is the case only in PHC - Rajamangalam 1st main road, Villivakkam or other parts of State as well.

Kind request to all the government/private medical staffs to avoid those hick-ups. , , , , , ,
