A day filled with patriotism, joy, inclusion and unity! 🇮🇳❤️

We were honoured to have Rev. Dr. A. Louis Arockiaraj, S.J., Principal , Loyola College as our Chief Guest, who graciously hoisted the National Flag and delivered an inspiring Independence Day address to our shelter residents.

The celebration became even more special with wonderful cultural performances by our residents and students from Model Schools, showcasing their talents, confidence and spirit. 🇮🇳

A heartfelt celebration reminding us that freedom belongs to everyone, and true independence shines through equality, dignity and inclusion. ❤️🤍💚

Today at Better World Shelter, we had the privilege of hosting an inspiring and meaningful talk on "Mental Health and the Importance of Connection with Others" by Meredith Shuman, MSW.

The session highlighted about communication, compassion, and community form the foundation of positive mental well-being. Participants gained valuable insights into understanding trauma, managing fear and anger, and learning how these emotions affect the human brain.

The interactive discussions and practical exercises made the session engaging, insightful, and empowering for everyone who attended.

A heartfelt thank you to Meredith Shuman, MSW, and to all the participants who actively engaged, shared their thoughts, and contributed to making today's program a success.

Let's continue supporting one another—because every connection matters.

24th July (Friday) evening - Vellaimozhi, a solo theatre performance by Revathi Amma, directed by A Mangai.

27th July (Monday) morning - a talk on "Mental Health and the importance of Connection with others", by Meredith Shuman, MSW with over 20 years experience in in community support for trauma affected families.

Storead Foundation and A Artful Collective invites Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) from across Tamil Nadu to apply for the Inclusive Art Fellowship Program a space to learn, create, and lead through art.
Who can apply?
Artists with disabilities from anywhere in Tamil Nadu who are interested in learning, practicing, and teaching art.
What does the fellowship offer?
* 5 days of FREE residential intensive training
* Boarding & lodging fully covered
* Close mentorship with expert master trainers
* Opportunity to teach children through art
* Monthly stipend for selected fellows
Limited seats available
Selection is through an application & shortlisting process

Better World Shelter collaborates with Aartful Collective headed by Muththamizh Kalai Vizhi and STOREAD (a shelter residents initiative) to engage our Shelter residents for a time of fun, learning and interaction and healing.

We have planned an Inclusive Arts Fellowship for persons with disabilities, details of which will be shared shortly.
