We do this by investing in game-changing ideas and leaders, creating an enabling ecosystem through research and facilitation and designing behavioural change programs through collaboration. We work with more than 250+ waste paper marts or Kailankadais (Kabadiwallahs) across the city to help Chennai citizens clear their trash at their doorstep at a convenient time and also use the value generated f

rom the trash to support a NGO of their choice. Paperman coordinates with 12 NGOs in Chennai to help them raise money from trash for supporting their causes. The NGOs cater to AIDS-affected children, HIV-affected kids, women empowerment, old age homes and many other causes that can bring a positive difference to the society. Customers can place a call on Paperman’s helpline, i.e. 8015269831, to communicate the residential/commercial address and the preferred time of collection and also indicate one’s interest in supporting for a cause. An authorized paperman (Kabadiwallah/Kailankadaikaran) with an ID card will be at the doorstep to weigh and sort the trash. Paperman gives the option of paying the trash value back to the customer or the customer can donate the entire value generated from the trash. Paperman will use the donation for a good cause by supporting an NGO chosen by the customer. Paperman assures an SMS bill within 30 minutes of trash collection and a Monthly Impact report from the NGO. In an attempt to organize the trash collection sector, Paperman was founded by Mathew Jose in 2010. Over the years, Paperman has worked with more than 200 schools across South India to create awareness on waste management. Today about 1000 houses, 50 schools, 10 corporate establishments and 6 colleges across Chennai use Paperman’s service to Clear their trash for a social cause.
